I dont know if Hawks are stronger without him, at least not short term. I dont think they will plummet down the ladder or anything; the Hawks have shown they are more then capable of winning well without him. However, he is still an extremely good player and there may be times he would be handy to have around; he still stretches the defense of most teams. Without him, it makes handling the forward line a slightly bit easier.

Geelong won the flag without Ablett, but it doesn't neccessarily mean the team is stronger without him.
We will be vulnerable against teams we normally put away easy (Essendon and Collingwood) argh

So Buddy has turned his back on Hawthorn... and he did it after the GF loss last season and lied about it for a year... and has accepted an offer that has been purposefully structured so as not to allow the Hawks to match it and benefit from a trade, and instead left them with the minimal free agent compensation (probably pick 20 or similar).

Gotta be just about the biggest "**** you" from a player to a club in the history of the game.

How were the crocodile tears on the weekend... no wonder he was off his dial... probably can't stand himself.

Oh and just one more thing;

Buddy Frankling you're a rat. Dead set total and utter rat and that girlfriend of yours that has a her fake silicon tits out on page 9 of this thread isn't even that attractive. Her face is a funny shape even i've sexed better looking women than that.

You're a rat Lance (no you're not my "buddy" anymore)

Total rat. Losing a grand final, seeing all your best mates in the locker room while they're shattered, devestated, missing out on the ultimate glory... and you're in the back room, with a shitty crown lager (why do footballers drink that shit after a grand final? it's a shit beer, even corono is better) anyway there you are sitting next to Luke Hodge, Samuel Mitchell, and that guy who used to be bald, and they're crying because they lost a grand final so close so far etc. and all the while you're texting goodesey asking for a job.

You are a shit person Lance, i hope you enjoy your billions of dollars, 6 premierships, Bondi Beach and cocaine and sex with that funny headed woman.

I do think at least for awhile it could potentially cause some headache for the Hawks. Opposition teams have focused alot on stopping Franklin, which is one reason why the Hawks have been using him higher up the ground lately. Without Buddy around, means teams can concentrate on defending against the likes of Gunston say, who until now would have been third priority after Franklin and Roughhead.

Six decades of domination
Has anyone here not living in sydney actually seen the price of property in Bondi?
Is it AFL regulations that he has to buy a house in Bondi? COLA should apply to players who need a little bit of extra. Rookies, Young kids etc. not players on massive contracts.

If you knew anything about the money those guys moved to Hawthorn on compared to their old clubs, you would know how clueless the comparison of those players with the current situation is.
And yet, most are compelled to yell 'poached' when guys like Bolton (Bris), Kennedy & McGlynn (Haw), Richards (Ess), Mumford (Gee) et al left heir clubs fringe 22 for starting gigs at Sydney.

You don't get it both ways matey.

They also ignore the 'home grown' talnets like McVeigh, Jack, Hannebery, Parker , Jetta and all and simply add 9.8% to their development\performance

Reality bites.

Will be the death of COLA and the death of whatever "Bloods" culture is used on the players. Massive resentment by other players to the terms and $ - worst judgement ever made by Sydney. Just wait and see the outcomes.

And once more, so you acknowledge that they sold their "souls" to achieve a premiership.
What cost integrity?

You do know clubs had the opportunity to do it eight times last year when he was injured with no success.

Wait, so is everyone on our list getting 10% above their market rate, or have we stockpiled the allowance for Tippett and Franklin?
Your players are getting paid the minimum amount you could get them to agree to play for you for. Just like every other team.

9.8% of what you pay your players doesn't count in the salary cap, leaving an extra 900k to spend each year.

It's not hard to understand.

Good question, and one the AFL should thoroughly investigate. In theory they all get the same percentage, but it is very much open to rorting. E.g. Player A who is in the mid to lower ranks, so has less bargaining power knows they will get topped up with their 9.8% cost of living allowance, and the club uses that to negotiate them down on their contract. This might happen to say 15 players, saving say 20k on average each. Player B (lets call him Kurt for example) comes along, Sydney are hot for him so offer him $900k, 300K of which comes from the savings they've made coz they were able to offer the other players 9.8% less and still have them on reasonably good wages. Effectively "Kurt" then gets 33% "COLA" and the other players in less powerful bargaining positions get 0.

Not saying this is going on, but is the kind of thing you can imagine would be hard to police using the current COLA system.
