Buddy - How many weeks?

Come on mate, please, Tippett's wasn't good but Lewis was just a good old fashioned clothesline.

Even in the 70s, Lewis would have been considered a dog act. Tippett would have been "making him earn it".

Come on mate, please. Making him earn it is a forearm to the back of the head in a veiled attempt to spoil (see Tex Walker v Hawks few weeks ago or Lake on Buddy in the GF).

Tippett hung the elbow out there without even a pretense at a spoil. That's every bit as much a dog act. Moreso IMO than the veiled attempt at a spoil with the forearm.

BTW I'm not even joining in the Swans are protected debate. I've had my say on Buddy and was very even with my opinion there. I don't think for one second that Lewis got stiffed or that Tippett got a lesser sentence because he plays for the Swans.

What I do think, is that Tippett got very bloody lucky.

He hit him hard enough in the head for Richmond to take one of their best performed player in 2015 from the field for 20 minutes of concussion testing.
Must have been all body though I guess. Edwards' brain must reside in a different location to most.

Again, using Lewis, if there was potential to break a jaw, and they only take into account the exact action as you say (a mm to the side is irrelevant) his jaw would have been broken. If I get ten Todd Goldstein clones and hit with x amount of force in y spot, the same thing will happen, every time.
the only possible outcome IS THE OUTCOME. There can be no potential for further injury.

They didn't take him off until half time. It's not game time that is measured. It is elapsed time. They never removed him from the match for more than a minute or so.

*Swans fans going out of their collective minds in indignation!!!!*

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/franklin-gone.1029000/

there were more threads. however they were locked and unsearchable. furthermore SEN received much talkback on the topic.

you must admit there was a strong dislike and baying for franklins blood by supporters when he took out malceski

WTF??? I have just evidenced for you that you spoke crap. The reason I went looking was because it was my recollection what you said was false. There it is. Two threads, neither of them show evidence of baying for blood by Swans fans. Quite the opposite.

And you say I must admit..........Good grief.

There would of been some yep.

Conversely there would of been hawks fans screaming his innocence and the bump is over reviewed and that Buddy should get better treatment at the MRP.

Does it all matter?

Its game time. That is how Sydney got the free kick for the interchange infringement because he came back too early. If it was elapsed time they could have done it at the start of the half time break and he could have come back at the start of the 3rd quarter

All i want to see is consistency and sensible results.

I don't buy the swans protected crap and obviously as a fan of the club its unlikely I ever will.

However its clear that we aren't getting consistency week to week no matter how much they tweak the system.

I thought it was game time too. But can't find a reference so didn't mention it

Either way Im not that big on the injury linking to the suspension, but I am not sure what the right answer is.

Hypothetically Buddy smacks him in the head and he gets up luckily right as rain it should not really be any different to if he copped it say a few inches another way or hit his head on the turf as a result and got knocked out, Buddy still did the same thing.

But I guess ignoring the injury it neglecting harm caused, but guessing what injury could of occurred seems slightly unfair to me

Looks like you were right.

What were Richmond doing then if he couldn't come back until a fair way into the 3rd quarter. Why didn't they just activate it as soon as he got back to the rooms?
Could have been any sort of brain trauma from a hit like that and it doesn't always come on straight away. Could have been Edwards started to feel sick only once he'd been down in the rooms a while.

if the afl admitted that was an overriding factory (ratings, gate receipts, star player) then we, taxpayers, will understand, accept and move on.

No, such an admission would validate us tin foil hatters who might spread negative word of mouth about what would no longer be a game but manufactured entertainment with adjusted outcomes (think WWE)
