Unsurprisingly they haven't used the "potential to cause injury" consideration for the star swan.

I guess not on this occasion.

You have a pretty strange idea of what "head over the ball" means.

Ohh you did a gif n all

Want me to put it on the fridge?

You have got to be joking. Buddy ran right past the ball and hit the Richmond player head on. It was pure luck that he didn't knock him out cold. The "potential to cause injury" clause appears to have been completely ignored. As for the Malcelski hit, that was side on as well as deliberate, and given 2/1 only because the Sydney squealing and doctors reports that made it look worse. Look around, you'll find it's not just Hawthorn but the wider AFL supporter base that will agree that 2 down to 1 week is a farce.
Looking around, all I can see are flogs calling for 3 and 4 week penalties that don't fit into the table of penalties at the MRP. Anyone would think they had no idea what they were talking about.

What? He got two weeks down to one purely because his bump was high and the potential to cause injury is high! If they didn't take that into consideration he would've gotten off scot free.

No special treatment here. Let's examine the verdict.

High contact: Well duh, no arguments here.

Careless: Fair enough as he did bump, but he was chasing the ball at the time, so it's not like he lined him up.

Medium impact: Admit Buddy was lucky here, but the fact that Edwards wasn't hurt and passed the concussion test saved him as the MRP seems to be assessing incidents based on damage caused these days.

It was always going to be either 2 games reduced to 1 or 3 games reduced to 2. As it turned out, Buddy got the lighter penalty, so he should take it and run.

Careless?....Hardly....Reckless more like it....Head first shoulder charge for which even NRL players are sent off....Drove right through Edwards causing his head to snap backwards & Land head-first on the ground, with the force of the impact causing Buddy to land on his head with his hip for some afters.

Medium impact???....See above.

The AFL are A blatantly corrupt joke....When & where will these double-standards in favor of Sydney & it's players ever end.

Pretty sure there was no way to even get 3 for a start

While we are still winning premierships to spite both you & the AfL, THEN i'll keep following my team if it's all the same to you.:p

I'm sure if the term reckless still existed he might have got it. Just another example of an individual with no idea of the system.

You seem upset. It's no good for your health. Just have a lay down.

I'm glad Buddy will be playing against the Hawks but I'm a bit confused about the outcome. If that's how the MRP judges it then that's fine but I just don't see how Gibbs can cause the outrage he did "it's a bad look, dangerous etc etc" yet this incident would be to the same degree of danger or worse and not considered more than just a poorly timed bump. His eyes were clearly on the Tigers player and his intention was to bump. If the Tigers player breaks a jaw/neck what would the penalty have been?

How could that be graded anything but intentional.

He even lined him up.
At the point of contact, the ball is at worst half a metre behind where Franklin is. Up until Franklin passes the ball he would be considered to be making an attempt to gather. So he lined him up from a distances of half a metre?
