Bring back state of origin and get rid of this stupid series. Leave Lloyd alone, who can blame him for pulling out of this stupid series, he has proven in the past how committed he is at state of origin time so dont put him in the Carey category.

I think international rules is great, it is the closest thing we have to playing international Aussie rules. I love watching it but I do also miss state of origin. I thought it was good and would love to see a revival.

I'm still not sure about this international rules stuff. Of course I want us to win, but lets face it; it's not the same.
I know from previous posts that some of you guys went to the last series out here & loved it & I havn't seen it in the flesh, but so far I just can't take it seriously.
As for state of Origin. I used to love it, but now it just interupts the season & Adelaide have too many players in the SA side.

Just heard that Hird was injured in some trial game in Ireland.
That's it I'm with Easty - we don't need this or State of Origin either, that's even worse.

I still like International rules but i would get rid of that to see state of origin back, maybe after the season, then it doesn't interupt the season.

I agree that the series is slightly contrived and the notion of "playing for Australia" is confected.
It is an exciting game to watch however... and good for those suffering withdrawal symptoms!!!

I love State footy - but the passion has gone out of it, with low crowds, players pulling out with "injury" - It wasn't a goer.
This International Rules series seems to have hit the right note - large crowds turned up last year, the best players put themselves up to represent Australia and the new type of game against an International side brought some new excitement into it.
I hope State footy isn't entirely dead, and that one day in the near future we can see it make a successful comeback.

Hird gets injured every 5 minutes no matter where he plays. Face it, the guy's a crock.
To take your logic to its extreme, we should ban the AFL Premiership season as well, because Hird might get injured.

State of Origin is dead and not a moment too soon.
The game is far too popular for the state of origin to have any relevence, it used too be a situation where the vast majority of the best players came from VIC, SA, WA now with the advances into NSW and QLD this is not the case anymore.
In any case the people have spoken and they don't want state of origin.
I think the International Series has some real merit and has at least on the surface has the support from the best players.
