Got a quick question for any builders amongst us.
My Daughter, her best friend and myself are at the PCI stage of our townhouse builds, we have 1 each in a block of 6.

My Daughters friend had her walk through this morning and a relative who works in the industry went through for support as the builder refused to allow an inspector.
During the walk through he noted the door frames in the wet areas were installed prior to tiling and said this is now not industry standard.
He said the tile needed to be removed, frames cut and tile refitted under the frame to prevent water ingress.
I've done some research but dont really know where I'd find the correct and current rule on this.

Is he correct and what is there I can use to support it if so?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Probably need some photos to know more. Is he talking about the frame itself or the architraves?

If you think of what waterproofing should be, you're basically creating a tub on the floor of the room that water can't leave so you're looking for ways the water is going to leak out. You should do the waterproofing membrane over the junction between wall and floor or waterstop and floor first before tiles or architraves so the membrane is continuous across both surfaces without being visible.

Builder refusing an inspector is a red flag though, ask him on what grounds can he refuse somebody that you're asking to represent you and provide advice to you?

Clause 10.2.31 may be applicable?
Thanks, I read that prior to posting the thread and assume it relates to the superceeded method.
Having spoken to the builder today they said the new practice is to tile first and butt the timber on top as an additional preventitive, however, the old method is still compliant as thats how they were doing it when the plans were approved 3yrs ago.
To be honest, after what weve been through in that 3 years I reckon any last minute alterations could easily be detrimental in the long run.
Its been a 3yr nightmare but the finish line is in sight.
