I'm surprised clubs don't name assistants at the head coach more often. After all they do have first hand knowledge about the team and play a key role in strategies, interchanges etc.

If the team hasn't been successful, isn't that a negative as well?

I would be happy with that.

I was getting the feeling Royal would get the job because he was a club hero and a good bloke, rather than the right person for the job.

Ahh, like Collingwood did with Tony Shaw, which took us through a very dark time in our club's history.

Lets save the Herald-Sun some work and come up with their headline on tuesday
"All Rohde's lead to Whitten Oval"

Tuesday's Herald-Sun headline will involve some Collingwood player getting arrested on Mad Monday

The Bulldogs appointing Rohde will be 12 pages in from the back next to the piece about the Mongolian Squash Open
