Robert Sainsbury with his 1935 jumper, and two familiar faces for a heritage round many years ago.

The 1935 jumper was a one-off. The club got them made up (Alby Morrison as captain-coach even introduced the players to the Gov-General before a game in that strip), but at the end of the season, the whole lot got damaged when being washed or cleaned, so 1936 saw the hoops come back.

There's a 1935 Hoadleys Confectionery collector cards set with this strip, features Norm Ware and Alby Morrison, amongst others.
I like that style :)

Probably his old Sunshine jumper, where he was recruited from.

That was my first thought too. Weren't Sunshine guernseys the reverse though ? See young Alan Stoneham and Capt/Coach Don McKenzie.

That looks like a very young Laurie Sandilands.

Good pick up, I didn't make the connection without the pornstache.

Love this photo too, two of my early favourites.

1985 end of season trip, enroute to mainland US via Hawaii...
"This is Captain Groenewegen speaking, and this plane is going down..."
1985 - a era light years away from post 9/11, how the world has changed. These days he'd be sent straight to Guantanamo Bay.

On a cold and wet day in Round 17, 1984, we had quite a few in long sleeves:

Doug Hawkins
Nigel Kellett
Steve Wallis
John Bennett
Neil Cordy
Jim Sewell

For those who were cold at the MCG the other week, this was one that I remember vividly.

Cold, wet and losing by 2 pts. Seven goals total for the game. Who says footy was better in the old days

Five in a row. Charlie Sutton being chaired off by Alan Trusler, Alan Warren, Ted Whitten, Wally Donald and Ron Stockman.

Anyone know who this long sleeved number 24 is watching EJ take a tumble? Perhaps Jack Slattery during the early 1960s? Or possibly Jim Gallagher?

The only time we would have played Hawthorn at the G would have been the 61 grand final so it would have to have been Slattery
