Review BULLDOGS WIN- The Bombers Anti-Streak lives on

Most journos are a bunch of pretentious w@@kers who have their heads up their ar@es, especially the Murdoch ones. I have had to deal with them as an academic and they have to be constantly educated on complex issues while they pretend to know more than what you have Been specialising for years. they live in a bubble of their own.

No doubt true, but I wouldn't call him a journalist. Come to think of it, I wouldn't call him a "comedian".

Surprisingly we aren't that much older or more experienced.
The average age doesn't vary an awful lot across the league - usually from about 24 (sometimes just under) to about 26 and a bit. So the 8 months difference is significant. The outlier on the weekend was Geelong but we know they are having their last roll of the dice this year. It shows up in their games played as well.

We are about average or a bit under for the 8 finalists. Essendon and Melbourne clearly the youngest/least experienced.

They had a game where they averaged in the 190s. That is insane. We have 1 player on our list who has played that many.

Stringer, Gardner and Merrett get potted, but that little piece of sh1t Devon Smith doesn't even get cited! Does the MRP even watch the review replay, or just fast forward to the ones mentioned in passing on the commentary? Even before he gutlessly grabbed Young's head, he deserves:
- 1 week for a face/head like an over-ripe potato
- 1 week for over-appealing free kicks for deliberate OOB
- 1 week for having a small member
- 1 week for having a head smaller than his member

No, I'm not overly fond of Devon Smith.
Yep. Never has someone been more appropriately named after gross processed sandwich meat.

Watching the replay Lewis Young looks quite a decent ruckman. Won a lot of taps lunging and jumping over Draper.

Problem was however that our mids were expecting him to lose the tap and were hopelessly out of position for his taps.

He is deceptively big IMO, but needs to work on his positioning obviously.

A lot to work on, but definitely has the potential to play as a ruck long term
That did happen a bit. Also with Gardner spoiling and the Bombers being front and square to crumb or clear at times. Our mids probably just not used to the ball coming out like that when Cordy was playing.

But ultimately these are positives as there is a chance to win some taps and a spoil to the front can now be anticipated in Gardners case. With that game done those 2 are now just a little bit more predictable and familiar to their team mates. Our mids might be feeling a bit more positive and upbeat about things now with the prospect that they will have opportunity to create and attack rather than likely defend. Certainly looked like it in the second half.

Can't agree, DR.

No-one, repeat, no-one is as unfunnier than Charlie Pickering!

Hughsey is pretty close, though :tongueoutv1:
I see your candidates for unfunniest and raise you Dave O'Neil. Have had the misfortune to have attended multiple business functions where he was guest comedian and his entire routine was to hang s**t on the members of his audience for whatever stereotypes he could latch onto.

Yeah.

Probably doesn't really help that he's a Dogs supporter either, does it?

When you’re in a semi final but aren’t playing the number 1 draft pick. We are in a pretty good position for the now and future.

Wish he was playing. Doesn't fit in with my dream finish to the year :p

Yeah not sure about his business function routine, but seen Dave a few times over the years and mostly enjoyed his routines - maybe different when he's playing to a pure comedy seeking crowd, I dunno.

I did chat to him after a gig in North Melb a few years back, where he performed and Danny McGinlay was MC. From memory they were both flogging merch, Dave was pretty quiet, happy to chat, admitted he's not a huge footy fan, but does follow the Dogs, didn't try to push his book even though we chatted for probably 10-15 mins. Very personable and friendly. Danny was in salesman mode, a little too over-friendly, and came across a bit fake tbh.

Small sample size, but I know which one I'd rather have a beer/cuppa and a yarn with. Anyway, each to their own, everyone has different tastes.

Go Dogs!

His podcast is god awful. "Analysis" consists of motherhood statements like "if they'd kicked straighter they might have won".
His podcast absolutely sucks. It's basically two men yelling at clouds. The game has gone so far past them it's not even funny.

I actually don't mind Rohan on the ESPN podcast though where his old timey shtick is more balanced with the other guys with a more up to date understanding of the game.

I had a look through his twitter feed from Sunday. The "trolls" on there were not even trolls most of the time... just responding to his garbage that he'd posted. If anyone was being a troll it was him with all the abuse he was putting out.

Just between you and me, I have to ask you how you know about Devon Smith's member?

I’ve just posted something similar to this on a MB thread, but imagine if Toby only gets two weeks and GWS somehow beat Geelong and Melbourne to get to the GF. He’s playing when he shouldn’t, against the dogs of all teams who have also scraped through.

What a ******* week that would be.

I was just realising this. The only we can play GWS this year is if we both make it to the GF in THREE WEEKS hahahaha. Suck a turd you grubby sniper

In all my years going back to VFL days, no team turns on it own like Essendung supporters do. Collingwood might be feral, but they don't stick the boot into their own like the convicted drug cheats supporters do.
They can never look realistically and calmly at their own mistakes or deficiencies. Always have to find some target to direct blame towards. Every game they play, unless all is going their way it's just constant booing because someone's done this or that to their team.
The club has a big challenge to turn around 17 years of underperformance. The supporters have an even bigger task removing a huge chip from their collective shoulders.
