Put Walker in cottone wool for the second half. Need him fresh for next week.;)

Nah let run it out. Match fitness is the only thing he needs atm. Should be back next week and i'd love to see him play roaming HFF and eventually released in the midfield. :thumbsu:

Ok. Just got back from the game and am still thawing out.

We were lucky to win that 1, we dominatted in the midfield and ruck 4 the 1's half but werent able to pull away. Jacko, ando and blakwell started in the the centre with hammer.and were great for the most part , but unfortunately we couldnt get the runs on the board.

I will start by satin Andrew walker will definately play against the sainst, barring injuries. Played mainly on the HFF pushin in2 the middle. I am not exaggerating or talking crap but his screamer in the square was easily the best mark i have ever seen. Wasnt like those sissy 1's daisy took last night. It was a full blooded pack mark and he was head ans shoulders above the rest. Reminded me of kouta back in the day. AW was close to being the most influential player on the ground. His disposal, especially by foot was 1st class ran hard and provided real option. probably had 25 touches 10 marks (just and estimation) and 2 goals.

Ryan jackson is faar to classy for VFL and needs to be bought into the seniors asap for someone like browne or JR. Kicked 2 good goal from the boundary and didnt miss a target all day, was impressed by his work rate. When the were warming up he seemed a bit arrogant and apart from the rest, maybe has something 2 do with why he isnt playing. around 20-25 touches.

Hammer dominated the ruck but really needs to work on he strength and around the ground game. To many times in marking contests he got his hands to the ball( was about a foot taller than hi opponent) but just got knocked out of it.

Luke Blakwell IMO was vying for BOG. I reckon he had close to 40 touches and his disposal was generally good. He is never going to be the longest kick but is tidy ( a bit like mitchell)

Pfeifer needs drastic work on his descision making and disposal. Is a ball magnet no doubt but cant really see him playing again this year.

Hartlett is the 1 player IMO that should definately be in the 1's. He is huge, a good mover, good skills and reads the game well. Had a good game and provided an option @ CHF.

Ellard couldnt get near it. Ackland and saddo to good for vfl they looked like franklin and roughead up there.:eek:

Hope this covers it.

2008 VFL Seniors

Tasmania 2.4 5.7 10.10 12.14 (86)
Northern Bullants 4.7 6.0 11.12 13.13 (91)

GOALS:
Tasmania: Hardy 4 Setchell 2 Charlesworth 2 Vearing Plummer Bongetti Langford
Northern Bullants: Ackland 3 Saddington 2 Jackson 2 Walker 2 Blackwell Davies Hartlett Hampson

BEST:
Tasmania: Savage Cassidy Thurley Setchell Langford Bowden
Northern Bullants: Jackson Blackwell Saddington Pfeiffer Walker Vansittart

Bad to see Hartlett only scored 1 goal.

Just got home from the game.

Fairly poor skills from both sides.

My opinion on a couple of Carlton listed players performances today:

Walker played well and ran all day. He appeared to be very angry today and was being very physical. He also took what was described on ABC radio as "possibly the the best screamer ever taken at Bellerive Oval". Look forward to seeing him Friday night.

Hampson was OK. Dominated the hitouts but appeared to be a bit taller than the Devils rucks. Took a couple of OK marks around the ground.

Hartlett took some good grabs at CHF in the last quater and created some good play.

Saddington was a good target up forward all day and kicked a couple. I heard Teague say at the 3/4 time huddle to kick it to Saddo because it's his day.

I was impressed with Austin today. He had 4 kicked on him, but he played at full back all day and did a very good job. He is quite quick and has good skills.

Ryan Jackson got reported. Im not sure what happened but the Devils players were not happy.

Don't worry ... Read the report. Interesting that they have moved him to FB when he has been playing so well at CHB. Who played CHB?

I think it was a match up thing. The Devils FF is their only big bodied forward and Austin seemed to be the best fit.

I think Austin could play either FB or CHB. He is very composed and good under pressure on the last line of defence.

Lappin floated around the backline and appeared to be CHB at times. I think Saddo started at CHB but due to the fact the Devils dont have a true CHF he moved up forward.

yeah lappin was good in that role was surprised me that he played back and not forward

Sorry about Ellard. Seems that Tassie is way too far south for him.
Happy to hear about Walker and Austin. Time for those to to be injected into the main team ASAP! Friday night can not come soon enough!

I agree that Walker isn't an automatic selection for Friday night, it's not as if the seniors are playing poorly, I'm not sure there's a spot for him at the moment, give him a month in the VFL (two more games, let him get match fitness, confidence in himself that his shoulder will hold up) and then let him play seniors.
