It's a pretty big grey area. I suppose it is when the subject of the piss taking doesn't appreciate it/gets hurt by it but only after it is repeated for a fair period of time and after the subject has made it clear that they are being hurt by it.

Absolutely. But repeated piss-taking over something that the subject has already told u hurts them isn't piss taking anymore you wouldn't think.

Suppose the Q is how long should the piss taking go on for before the piss recipient does as you say and says 'yeh nah'.

Got an older female friend who is saying she is at that point after a few comments...but is feeling like she will rock the cart too much by saying 'I've had enough'.

I suppose it's up to the piss recipient (love the term lol) to decide when their threshold is reached and say something. If nothing is said, it is quite probable that the person taking the piss doesn't realise they are bullying or even hurting someone's feelings

Talking about verbal bullying here by the way, obviously physical bullying is another matter completely

For me, taking the piss on a regular basis is fine as long as everyone is comfortable giving as good as they get.

If I take the piss out of someone and they don't return serve at some point, I'll refrain from having a go at them in the future. I take it as an indication that they don't see our relationship as being close enough for it to be appropriate.

Many suicides in a short space of time. It does happen in that industry but so does murder made to look like a suicide.

Let alone coping with bullying and shit like that within their job.

More needs to be done, and not just in that area, lots of other jobs.

I worked for over a decade in local government, a capital city council and let me tell you, they were THE worst of the worst for bullying, double standards, corruption and nepotism.
Have never experienced anything remotely as bad as that in my working life. Destroyed my health in the process.

DOCS workers have a very high burnout rate and those who stay tend to lose compassion.

Many judges are alcoholics.

Its everywhere.

I aways check with my kids to make sure they are not being bullied either at school or online, Can only take their answers on face value but am vigilant.. on the flip side have always told them that if they are getting bullied and need to get physical to stop it they’d have my blessing, even if they got dragged to the principal for it I’d have their back..

there are a lot of precious kids and adults out there who can’t handle a bit of piss taking banter.

No better in state government. Be told youre not up to jobs regularly despite them constantly hiring incompetent clowns who just happened to be someones husband, wife, niece etc.

Sales teams are pretty bad for bullying, also when engaging with competitors as well, part of the fun I guess, wouldn’t be fun if you were a bit sensitive though.

Retail managers who think they are all that are pretty bad for workplace bullying. Not that higher ups give a flying ****.

There's also a guy who spies on forklift drivers waiting for them to do something wrong or 'unsafe' so he can report it.

What annoys me most as not getting anywhere in your career despite being significantly better than the people who get promoted. I have absolutely no answers as to how you police it but everyone knows it's rife so must be a way...

I'd love to know how many legitimately good people are lost to public services due to BS like that. It's so inefficient as it is, public service is a laughing stock yet executives/directors/ministers never wonder why? Or if they do, they never act to fix it. Hopeless

Age old question, what is bullying? To the bullies, it's just banter, but to the bullied its bullying

Yeah exactly and also depends on who is getting 'bullied' - i have a thick skin and dont take offense to anything so nothing really worries me (so verbal 'bullying' didnt/wouldnt bother me - obviously physical is different)

My kids come home sometimes saying they were teased at school or their step-brother is too rough etc. But again, not sure any of this is bullying (at some point if it continued it would be). I had brothers and we got into fights/wrestles etc, and the younger brother is going to feel the brunt of it as he is smaller. Plus all kids tease each other at some point - if you are willing to hand it out you have to take some as well.

My advice to them is to just walk away/ignore and dont feed them (in the end bully's want a reaction). If it gets to a point, especially the step brother - kick him in the balls (i tell them they will probably get into trouble or he might fight back harder but at some point you have to stand up for yourself)
