Just as quickly as last season finished, the new one is upon us, with probably just as many questions as before. Can Bayern win a fifth straight title? Can Dortmund capitalise on the best ever points score for second place and put a stop to the Bayern Juggernaut? Will Bayer 04 finally get it together and prove challengers? Can Schalke stop the slide?

One thing we do know for certain is that the clubs have splashed out. Here are a few of the big name signings to join this seasons teams.

Coke - Schalke

A great statement of intent from Schalke, who will hope the Europa League Final Player of the Match can clear up their defensive woes

Breel Embolo - Schalke

One of the most talented youth players going around, it was a huge coup for the Royal Blues to pick up. Sure, they have lost Leroy Sane, but Emboli should fill the gap, bringing with him senior international experience.

Renato Sanches - Bayern Munich

Another of the Wondered brigade, Sanches didn’t come cheap to Bayern - but he didn't need to, given the financial clout of the 26-time Bundesliga winners. Sanches impressed at the euros, and should have no trouble slotting into the Bavarian’s lineup.

Raphael Guerrerio, Borussia Dortmund

Like his countryman Sanches, Guerrerio stood up at the euros, making an impact at LB with his excellent crossing and closing down of players. One of many to make a trip to the Westfalenstadion this season, he will strengthen a squad looking to impart a serious challenge on all three fronts.

Mario Goezte - Borussia Dortmund

The transfer that was always going to ruffle feathers, Goetze left Bayern after 3 seasons for his boyhood club in a far lesser light than he appeared. Interestingly enough, he is also replacing the player that replaced him on his initial exit (Mkhitaryan). First point of call for Goetze will be to find his form that helped BVB to back to back titles, maybe then he can win over the diehard supporters and return to the super talent he once was.

Kevin Volland - Bayer 04

Bayer have added Volland, an established striker at Hoffenheim, to a list that includes Chicharito, Bellarabi, Keissling and Julian Brandt. Where he fits is anyones guess - but it is a mark of intent that Bayer want to go deep into the season.

Odds

Bayern Munich $1.14

Bor. Dortmund $7.00

Bayer 04 $26.00

Schalke 04 $51.00

VfL Wolfsburg $67.00

BMG $81.00

All others $501.00

first half of the dfl supercup 0-0 most of the chances falling to Dortmund but Bayern had probably the best chance with Vidal. How on earth Ribery did not get a red is beyond me, he seems to get off lightly all the time!

Ridiculous that Dembele kicking the ball away is put on the same level as Ribery throwing an elbow to the face of Passlack. He gets away with it every ****ing time

Some good play from both sides, but Bayern - you don't need to be dirty. You're a good team. Stop it.

ends up 2-0 to Bayern who like usual were just more ruthless and clinical in front of goal. Encouraging signs for Dortmund despite the loss and looking forward to matchday 1

Ribery has always been a little kid who can't control his temper. He shouldn't be starting this season anyway once all the players are back and fit.

Finally a coach who doesn't play suicidal defense on the halfway line.

not many upsets in the first round of the Pokal, only Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig eliminated from the top tier.

Is the whole league anti-Leipzig still?

Wonder how they will go to be honest.

Werder Bremen were (as expected) so bad last night. Knocked out in the cup already, things looking very bleak for them
