Good to see that West Coast get rid of 2 unaccountable midfielders just to pick up an unaccountable midfielder with their first pick. After all we do need midfield depth.

i totally agree streak. he has us picking possibly the 2 most unaccountable and outside midfielders in the draft pool in Rosa and Bain. i think he has a good relationship with woody, so the information on us being super keen on Rosa is probably around the mark. can say i have the utter most faith in our recruiting team after the past few drafts, they are in great 'form'.

But to have Rosa before the likes of Toovey, Polo or Eckermann is strange to say the least. I think Woody has been pulling his leg.

Re: Burgatron's Phantom Draft - afl.com.au

Done quite well up untill pick 9. I think he's right up untill then. I expect to see Tambling, Franklin and Meesen in the Brown and Gold next year. Don't think Eckerman, Jackson, Redden and Grundy will last that long and I dont think Egan, Russel, Rusling will go that early. I'd be a little dissapointed if we picked up Pattison with 21, but we could do alot worse. McQualter sounds great but I think we have enough of his sort of player. Also think that the Hawks won't pass pick 53, but will instead use it on Paul Thomas, if not, he will be the selection in the PSD. Agreed that FootyDraft.com seems a fair bit closer to the mark than this one, at least it was heavily detailed.

Bring on 'Buddy' and 'The Bling'

Re: Burgatron's Phantom Draft - afl.com.au

Eckerman at 40 is crazy talk.

FWIW I dreamt last night that we picked up McQualter at 55.

Of course in the same dream I had Josh Hunt coming to us at 10...

Re: Burgatron's Phantom Draft - afl.com.au

I am impressed with his summary details on each player. Every single one of them should be the number one pick in the draft.

Re: Burgatron's Phantom Draft - afl.com.au

69 - FREMANTLE - Brad Smith
(Subiaco), 11 May 1979, 193cm, 102kg

Smith was an instrumental part of Subiaco's premiership victory over Claremont in the 2004 WAFL grand final, kicking five goals. It capped off another outstanding year for Smith, who won his second consecutive Bernie Naylor Medal - the leading goalkicker in the WAFL. After booting 84 goals in 2003, Smith cracked the ton with 109 majors in 2004. This included 11 goals during the finals series. Although he will be 25 years old next year, he has attracted strong interest from the Western Australian clubs, but it is Fremantle who are firming to take on the full-forward. With the Dockers losing Troy Simmonds to Richmond during the October exchange period, he would be a more than handy addition. It is also believed that he has attracted strong interest from several Melbourne-based clubs.

Is this the same Brad Smith that played as a ruckman for both Richmond and Collingwood?

interesting that this rusling character is mentioned ahead of juniper. does anyone have any info on him?
Sean Rusling went to Westminster not Sacred Heart. Played under 17s for West in 2003 and one reserve game this year in which he was very good. He is a very atheletic. Good size and posseses great pace. The rumours about him have been very strong for weeks

Nope, different one who played FF in the WAFL vs VFL match of 2004.

The other Brad Smith plays at Glenelg.

I very much doubt we will take so many "talls".I do agree with the possibilty of us taking a Meeson or a Wood at #4 if you go by Greg Becks comments earlier on in the week in regards to pick #4.

cheers!

Why is a ruckman of such importance to us ? Surely we could use either pick 12 or 16 on a ruckman ! I think we are in more need of kpp players,so hopefully Roughhead or Franklin for pick 4

Yeah, you'd prolly get a ruckman with pick 12 or something.

I reckon you guys would go:
1. Deledio
4. Franklin
12. Deluca

Re: Burgatron's Phantom Draft - afl.com.au

This guy calls himself the burgatron!?!?! More like Burganong!

Eckerman, Monfries and Sharp will be higher for sure.

Van Berlo is way out of place

Can't believe so many people are claiming the author to be an idiot. The draft hasn't been held yet and he has as much chance of correctly selecting players as any of the other experts. For what it is worth, Burgatron has seen alot of under 18 football, attended the draft camp, has access to player reports including profiling and more importantly has spoken with all of the recruiting managers and many of the players. More likely than most to have a good feel for how the clubs rate certain players. Saturday will reveal all but I'd give weight to a number of his predictions.

Every year people call Burgan an idiot. Every year his phantom draft is closer to the mark than anyone else's.

The only glaring error I can recall him making was in 2002 when he had David Kellett as a top 10 selection.

As I've said before - get someone to rank the top 80 AFL players and no one will agree. Get someone to see 80 underage players from different competitions and with different skills, and all of a sudden we should all be in perfect agreement.

Re: Burgatron's Phantom Draft - afl.com.au

This draft prediction is easily the most realistic so far, in my opinion. Looking at the West Adelaide draftees, the rumour has been strong for a while that Jordan Russell might go to Carlton at No. 9. Rusling is a smokey and won't last too long. I saw the Reserves game he played this year and several of his junior games last year and clubs would be well aware of him, despite him being hidden away.

The other pick Burgatron has noted from Westies, apart from Adam Hartlett, is Stephen Tiller. I think Burgatron has got Westies players just about spot on. Some of the players he has placed lower than expected may not have convinced the Clubs as much as is generally expected.
