Here's some news that has seemed to slipped us by. Shagger Wakelin and Sir Scott Boo-urns are going to play their 200th against the scum of all scum.
Both have survived adversities such as injury or delisting (as good as St.Kilda are they would like S.Wakelin now).
I think that 2006 may be Burns's last year unless he can improve next year, as he seems to have slowed down quite a bit and comes onto the ground in bursts. Wakelin hasn't showed many signs of slowing down and is still in near-career best form, may be one of those players who goes on for a while, but then again he may drop off the mark quickly.
Wakelin and Burns are truely 2 of the most underrated players going around. Burns was picked up at around #70 and Wakelin was a 3rd/4th round pick up as a 26 (?) year old who was delisted. His story doesn't get told much (well as much as Sav Rocca's does when he hits a little bit of form) but to come back from a delisting and be one of the premier defenders is great.
Burns has had an injury interrupted season, probably missed about 50 games through injury, but in 2002 he was pretty much the difference between finishing 9th and in the grand final.
