Burton has surgery on his knee

Bad luck to the Birdman but it solves a selection dilema for the coaches. There is no need to choose between Jericho and McGregor as both can now come into the side this week.

Why didn’t they do this clean out 3 weeks ago?

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing in injury prevention but this is the second player (Mathew Bode) who has now had to have surgery after hoping time will heal that injury.

He played and it wasn’t getting any worse but also wasn’t getting any better, if he had surgery 3 weeks ago, he will be ready to play now.

I think you will find that with most injuries of this nature they have to wait for swelling to subside before they can assess the full extent of the injury. As Burton had been running on his injured knee for 6 weeks, the swelling would have taken awhile to ease before they could do the operation.

hopefully he will be able to return in time for the peak end of the season.. hopefully the injury wont plague him all season and we can have him up and firing not long after the mid season break... we need him firing, he's a very important part of the side i believe.

you can also add Andrew Mcleod to that list. Didnt he have surgery last year after trying to let it heal naturally?

Not trolling, but seriously, do you guys ever get jack of the AFC bull sh*tting about the players injuries all the time?

The next time a player is listed @ the AFC with "general soreness" can I safely assume that means he'll be out of action for 3 - 6 months?

What disadvantage do the AFC think they could cause by being open and honest about injuries to their adoring fans?

No, i'm not Rucci and neither is my wife.

I think it's the other way round with McLeod. They let him rest it (and he didn't miss a game), decided after round whatever to go for surgery, he missed 1-2 weeks, played again, then got an infection in the wound and miissed some more, IIRC. The problem there was not letting him rest, but surgical complications.

Should have been done weeks ago. Poor affort, AGAIN ( Macca ), by the AFC.
Drummond Mk2?!

HOw could he possibly go into a surgery earlier when we struggled to pick 25 players to name a team?

At one stage we had 26 players to pick from. What would have happened if Burton went on for surgery and couple of other boys got injured in the mean time?

Fantassia MK2  "Blind Faith Board".

Burton should have been in surgery weeks ago. Let's face it his input was minimal when he did play, and QUITE OBVIOUSLY ON ONE LEG.

Did Fanta screw your missus or something?!

Burton didn't go into the surgery because we didn't have enough fit players to pick the 25 from. Nothing more nothing else. Are you aware of the of what happens if you don't have enough numbers to name a side?!

I would bet anything that you would be the first to bitch and moan about it (as usual) if AFC were in that situation.

Blind fate is one thing, reality is another. Maybe you should try it one of these days ;)

Good post. You do wonder, though, is there something being missed in the club ?

Not trolling, but seriously, do you guys ever get jack of the AFC bull sh*tting about the players injuries all the time?

Yes. All clubs do it and it seems disrespectful to the paying public.

She's tried but we all know you don't like to share. If you could leave him alone for longer than 5 minutes maybe she would have a chance. :thumbsu:

No i wouldn't be the first to moan. In the games he did play, blind Freddy could see he was really struggling. So resting him would not have made any difference to the scoreline. You don't go wasting one few of the genuine match winners we have, ie McLeod.

Blind Freddy could tell that Burton was struggling but you need to rest the knee 1st before deciding what course of action to to take. Unlike Macca's, at least the Birdman is getting fixed well before the business end of the season.
