The fact that no one has mentioned on TV, besides telling/showing us he was reported, and they havent showed a reply, can only be good signs for burton. I mean, it is foxtel. A lack of video evidence could help him.
 
Interesting at the end there Dodd and Burton were having a friendly chat......

I think he might which is not a good news for us. Last year he was offered 1 week with his good record but he appealed and got reprimand and some points did carry over.

The only possible outcome here could be the lack of video evidence.

Yep - a front on hit on the wing, wasn't it? I know he played the next week, but I have a feeling he got 2 matches, appealed and then got 1 less discount to enable him to play.

Yep I think you are right there Macca, although I totally disagreed with the report at the time - when did they change the rules that you were not allowed to try and shepherd a player off the ball when it is within 5 metres? Should have been a free and nothing more but Tim Lane tried to get him hung, drawn and quartered that game.

I noticed the guy he is supposed to have clocked talking to him in a friendly manner after the game - I wouldn't be surprised if his evidence was that nothing happened.

Thats what I am banking on. Dodd was pretty cool with Burton after the game so I thought he might testify that nothing happened and he wanted to milk the free.

Having said that, Tribunal is as usual ********ed up so they will most likely take the word of an umpire over the word of a player.

Or the 'I was milking it for all it was worth'. He (Dodd) went down two times prior to that incident and managed to get up very quickly after each one. not saying that it wasn't there but there could be a case to argue.
 
Except it happened right in front of the ump.
The two of them were jumper punching, then they separated, started pushing again, and Burton hit Dodd with a roundhouse right. Might be able to claim a glancing blow, low impact, but might struggle on the "in play" and "high contact" bit.
God knows what they'll do for intentional, reckless, negligent... I mean it was intentional (as any of the ball push/shove/hit has to be - what else could it be "I was brushing a fly from his face, your honour"), but that probably pushes it up to 3-4 weeks, which it isn't worth. It's the major failing of this system - most of the ball contact is intentional, but that ends up effectively counting double, unless they downgrade it to negligent to get the appropriate sentence.

:eek: that the tribunal would take an umpire's word over a players! The players IMO shouldn't be able to get other players off (this mateship thing is a crock sometimes). If they thumped someone, they should pay for it. One hopes that there was some vision of McLeod's incident as well.

That's not the incident he was reported for Kahuna. Happened shortly after that and we never saw any vision of it. Can only rely on first hand accounts from the game and apparently he whacked Dodd in the head with a roundhouse - stupid, stupid boy.

On the main board there was a bit about Smallville and the footy team there called the Crows, people asked if that made Ricciuto Superman. Well if he is then Burton is Lex Luthor - Superman's best friend who occasionaly shows signs of being evil as evidenced by this silly report :(

And according to 5AA this morning it looks like Channel 10 in perth have the vision of the incident. In other words, good night Birdman :(

You think he'd learn eh? :mad: If he DID smack the bloke, then he deserves to be fined/suspended IMO. Just as I hope the tribunal will look at the incident where Mcleod was thumped. We don't like it when other team's do it to us, I feel sure they feel the same way if we did it to them.

By the way... this would be the first suspension under Craig I think?

Roger James gave evidence and said he was falling over anyway yet they gave no credo to what the PLAYER involved in the incident had to say
