Actually we already knew that Craig was our senior coach because the announcement was made before the showdowns so basically he was the SENOR coach and not a care taker at that time ;)

Saw the incident and the way Chris Mcdermott and 5AA carried on this morning I thought Burton murdered someone. Apparently it was supposed to be worse that Leppa's haymaker on Goddard.

It was a push and shove between the 2 players and a jumper punch that is inconclusive from the footage. Dodd obviously milked it for all its worth. I still think if Dodd gives evidence that Burton didn't hit him and he just did it to milk a free, Birdman could get off.

Just saw the footage on Sports Tonight, doesn't seem to be much in it if you ask me.

Why was Channel 10 even at the game?

Too True Stiffy - plus if the club combines it with the two previous occasions in the game where Dodd takes a dive to the deck in order to 'milk' a free could be interesting as evidence. Both those instances are on camera in the normal telecast, the second one Peter Bell pulls him up and seems to say to him 'stop that and play footy' (that's the impression I got the first time I saw it).

I thought there was nothing in it. The way McDermott was carrying on this morning saying it was worse that Leppa's, I thought Burton is a dead man walking.

Now I don't think he should miss any weeks as the video was very inconclusive. Having said that they will probably suspend him for at least a week with his previous offence and points carrying over.

Burton was caught because 10 had a camera following him for the game.

As for the incident, he punched him in the chin - Dodd had a fist full of jumper, it was Burton's 6th swing without any jumper - the ones that missed he could go for attempting to strike which is graded only a bit lower than making contact. Based on the points table and that he has almost a full game of points carried over, could get anywhere from 2 to 10 (if they charge him for all 3 that got close) imo

KG raised an interesting point this morning and one I actually had been thinking about - scary that I am agreeing with him! :eek:

What happened on the weekend in relation to stopping or policing the 'scraggers' - isn't that what Dodd was doing for 2 1/2 quarters? Plus in the vision you can clearly see him hanging onto Burton when the ball is no where near them. Plus once burton starts swinging you can see that Dodd refuses to let go of Burton's guernsey.

Not excusing the stupidity of Burton but you can kinda understand his frustration.

Always amazes me when i hear papsies calling Burton a dobber etc especially as ( by their standards ) they have one of their own in B Lade.

It was a foxtel game in Vic, but a Ch10 game in Perth and Adel. I think the cameramen are all Ch10 guys who just wear Foxtel jackets for the night. It happens for all games in Perth when Fox has them, it becomes a mix of 9 or 10 with Fox... ie Gossage and Jason Bennett for Saturdays, Michael Thompson or Mark Readings and Healy/Carey/Dunstall etc for Sundays.

Thats not correct, Foxtel supply their own crews, commentators and production staff for the games. Just because it is telecast on Channel 10 or Channel 9 that has no bearing on who films or produces the game.

The only reason they are on free to air is so the the public in SA and WA get to see the game as per the television agreement in place. Foxtel have a content sharing arrangment in place so that if they are providing a free to air station one of the games that they get to air what the free to air station is airing in the Eastern States. There is no cross production at all during the season.

This is why Foxtel are unhappy with the fact that they are spending money producing the interstate games, but getting no reward as the commerical stations in the major markets for those teams (Adelaide and Perth) are being shown on free to air tv and they (the stations) are getting the games for free and foxtel are getting no reward from it as basically it is only airing in the Eastern STates and how many people would be watching Adel V Freo in Melbourne ??? whereas the major markets Adelaide and Perth get the game on free to air. Nine and Ten are the big winners due to this.
