I turned on CNN, and that was the heading on the screen.
He respects them?!
Typical US propaganda.
Yeah he respects them untill he drops a bomb on them.

Whilst I agree that there is a too much USA propaganda I believe that Bush is being honest on this issue. The Afghanistan people are extremeley oppressed by the Taliban and are not responsible for the terrorist action. The offensive against the Taliban and terrorists will undoubtedly try to minimise civilian casualties. We must remember, however, that in Iraq Saddam put civilians and prisoners in strategic military installations to try and dissuade their destruction. We can expect the same in Afghanistan.

i spoke to someone who came from afghanistan 4 months ago
in his words the stuff you hear about afghanistan is "bulls***".

he says the contry is so peacefull that the policeforce doesnt even carry weapons, in australia they have to, if thier regime was oppresive they would HAVE to. He says it does break some islamic laws in being too strict, but he says he and his family wasnt ever bothered or approached for not sticking to them.

he says the only women he heard complaining were prostitutes (no more clients ) and yes women do talk there, they shop in peace in the markets or shopping centers, study socialise etc
it has a surprisingly good infrastructure compared to what they show,
The "victims" of the taliban, those people that are always seen on the news as examples have usually been responsible for rape and murder, in australia you lock them up, in afghanistan they hang them / chop thier hands off. Which in my opinion is the way to go.

I will always beleive someone who has been there than the media, the media is about ratings not truth, and the media usually "follows" the governments lead. Why would one side lie so much about the other. While there may be some element of truth they are obviously representing the afghan people as something they are not.

Well you only have to surf the web for heaps of first had wrte ups and look at the hundreds of thousands fleeing the country before the attack on USA. That doesn't gel with the guy you spoke with!!

I just watched a CNN show where an Afhan lady went back and secretly videod what she saw. Yuk, it was sickening. The Taliban was hanging people from soccer goal crossbars and shooting women. Villages were full of murdered civilians and children as young as 9 r*ped. That someone you spoke to is a sicko mate.
