I think each channel has an extended news every night. Im ok with that if it is news and informaing people of the situation and giving us a run down on what people have gone through in the first day or so. But we are 4-5 days down the road, they re-hash the same stories and get heart-felt stories from eveyone. That is not news. That is what A Current Affiar and Today Tonight are for. To tell the heartfelt stories and the usual bullcrap these shows tell.

Channel 10 with there 90 min news would tell the same story 3 times every night.

Some interesting media analysis here.

I wonder how today's media would have handled Cyclone Tracy (1974) when 30,000 were made homeless and the same number were evacuated and nearly an entire city was destroyed.

Actually, they would have been beside themselves not having access as the city was a quarantine and military zone. Nobody was saving the animals then. Wandering dogs were shot by police.

Last night they had the "special" extended news coverage on 9 which went until 7pm and then they started Funniest Home Videos in the middle of the show. I could care less about that show but it really does show how much respect they have for their viewers. 9 clearly are trying to get a week or two's worth of ratings wins to make thier end of year results look better.

Yeah. No doubt Backyard Blitz will soon be blessing bushfire victims with new backyards.

If they try to do more than 1, they'd surely have a case of 'viewer fatigue' - in saying that they'd have about 20 seasons worth of episodes to do if they wanted to.

They wouldn't have got in or if one of them did, they would have been sent packing quick smart. From memory the military were more or less running the show in those days of non-PC. The thought of some soldier's size 12 up the butt of one of those vultures brings a smile to my face.

Oh believe me the producers of this show are rubbing their hands.

I can't stand scotty cam at all.

As a matter of fact, there was a person in the house, but they didn't hear her. I agree, it was a disgrace.

And Karl Stephanovic, very poor form... Then again, is that guy ever in good form =/?

On Media Watch it said there was 1 person living there at the time but they weren't home when Langdon rocked up because they were at a town meeting.

Media Watch Bitches!!!

I can never remember the latest compere's name --but he was fantastic on this issue last night. Just the right tone of righteous anger - even Stefanovic 5000 got a serve
