Even though footage and picture coverage is better nowadays than ever before, I haven't seen anything like this ever before.
If the images that are capturing how intense and terrifying it is in those areas says anything to me, it's fire and water are two things you just don't f**k around with, if you're told to go, you go.

Still cannot believe the fireworks are going ahead tonight. Its so stupid on so many levels
I get the economics of it but it's just such a weird thing to be celebrating with fireworks while entire communities burn.

This is a national catastrophe that our government is not prepared to face let alone do good.
What are you talking about. The federal government is being increadibly proactive in thus current national disaster

This is a national catastrophe that our government is not prepared to face let alone do good.

Story on adelaide news last week about a woman who panicked and fled, pranged her car, only just got out before car exploded and sheltered in a Paddock until husband come to get her. He was defending the property and lost sheds when he went to save her.

Now, the government spends millions on advertisements telling people what to do in a bushfire, in this case, what not to do. The media accepts this money.

Now, that woman did what you're told not to. Don't change your mind and leave when it's to late, it puts other people's life's in danger. The media glorifying her story. They compleletley avoided the fact she phuqed up.

So yes, you're right, the gov is wasting our money, obviously the advice they spend millions to get out to us, isn't working. They all should be shot for mispropriation of funds.

i wonder how many tons of carbon have gone into the atmosphere in the past month from bushfires? you get the feeling its more than Australia would emit annually which makes the whole carbon emmissions thing one big farce

Well its hard to understand the point your post is making without the comparison. I have no idea if 20 million is a lot or little for a year compared to today.
According to Wikipedia, im assuming its accurate, as of 21st December this year 8.42 million hectares have been lost.

Watching all the footage of the NSW and Victorian fires is just bring back all the memories of the 2003 bushfires in Canberra. I remember sitting on the roof of my house with three hoses trying to stop the fire from jumping the back fence and watching a fire tornado flash across Mount Taylor. It’s the scariest shit I’ve ever been through, I hope all those who are going through something similar now stay safe and heed all warnings and instructions from the fire services.

Thousands of people stranded on a beach all day.
Armed forces being mobilised to rescue them.
Grocery stores and petrol outlets on the NSW south coast have run dry.
Schools burning down and people being told that they won't be saved if they try to save their properties (which was the advice up until Black Saturday.)

And Nero sits at Kirribilli watching fireworks with his climate denying coal mates and religious zealots while Rome burns.

This is starting to look like the end of days. And perhaps the most concerning thing is the possibility that our complete lack of leadership comes from the belief that this is an act of God, and that the rapture is a good thing.

In short, I think we're ****ed.

You were doing ok until this rubbish

"And Nero sits at Kirribilli watching fireworks with his climate denying coal mates and religious zealots while Rome burns."

Then it just got worse.

Does anyone think the fireworks would be going ahead tonight if Morrison didn't have a party to host?

The Sydney Mayor, Clover Moore, was the one who pushed hard to go ahead with the fireworks, and she's as left wing as they come.

She couldnt afford to cancel them, the cost to the council would be astronomical, and in her presser still had a go at the governments inaction on climate change.
Typical green-left hypocrite.
