I think there’s two possible reasons for not targetting BJD.
1. He’s not the good sort of wheat dealer, he plays for the Big Boys (Evil)
2. He’s actually off in this game (I hate to say it, from what I have seen, it’s off this time around) and why would evil want to kill someone that’s off? One of the groups had a legit excuse to go after someone else (so they knew full well what they were doing yesterday.) But when that failed, they decided to just get it done before any more words were spoken.
That’s why I’m highly suspicious of Brown Bottle. His faction learnt this identity the night before, and tried to ‘play it natural’ for the attempted lynch, they had a legit reason too (RM backed DC, confirmed evil). Three situations:
1. If the lynch was successful, job done. Those that pushed him can legitimately claim they were mistaken because of that suss behaviour.
2. If they tried to get it running, but to no avil, then they’ll get it done in the night anyway.
3. If it looked bad for RM, he was going to out himself. If Blacky came out and revealed himself as the fake, it would seem like the Doctor could protect them… but what about alternate nights? That amulet would be required… but what if said faction had the amulet? That’s a free shot next night because it would guarantee the deal would be done next night.
Even without the amulet, it feels like it favoured evil to casually make the play since well, the material is there, and just see how things go. Even in failure, the pieces would fall, but that had a low chance of happening. What happened right now was pretty much as planned for them.
That’s my theory on the matter, it was a well-planned high percentage ploy to rid of the seer (not even the Seer saw it coming), and the amulet as things stand is with that group, which probably answers the latest vig failure (though even then, I think I may know why they would try).
I'd look at the guys that recommended RM for lynching.
