I think all that is is the coaching group sending a very clear message to John that if he wants to be part of the team he cant just have one or two good SANFL games like has happened in the past, he needs to set the field on fire.

I think he's just at a point now where he really needs to prove he's got game before he'll be let back on the field, but not that it won't happen.
When in history has butch been promoted off 1 or 2 good games in the 2nds. This thread is filled with El_Scorcho calling for it.

Remember when people were calling for Butcher to start taking 10 marks every week if he wants to play at AFL level?

lol.

What he's done thus far is fine and worthy of selection if Hinkley was committed to a 3 KPF gameplan, but I personally believe that the coaches believe we are too tall when all three KPFs are fit, and want to go back to that shorter, harder running side we had in 2014. Ultimately when Schulz comes back he'll play, but I believe Hinkley would go shorter if he could.

There were issues with that gameplan as I wrote War and Peace about last season and the season before, but Dixon being the big body he is might mitigate those issues somewhat.

#pickbutcher 4lyf though obvs

If Schulz is out long term and John keeps his form up, then we'll see him in before too long.
I'd love you to be right but unfortunately I reckon it will require us to lose a few games.

If we beat GWS and Geelong, I think it will confirm in Ken's mind that we were too tall with 3 KPFs.

If we lose to GWS and Geelong and distinctly lack targets going forward, we'll see him come in if he keeps up his formline

To the point where he kicks ... you know ... goals? And doesn't contribute to the massive fck-party of melts-under-pressure that we already have going on?
1.0, 4.2 and 3.2.

Since you live overseas (as far as I can tell), perhaps leave the criticism to people that actually see Butcher play regularly?

You simply could have quoted those figures and that would have answered my admittedly angry-from-the-game question.

if there was ever a glaring need as there was today was a hit up tall at chf whether that be this bloke or howard. we got to the centre circle than stopped coz no one was there; Dixon was on a wing westhoff was back leaving neade/amon/young as our target inside 50 which was circa 2015. Last year we had either one of ryder or schulz there and now we've lost both so we don't have the ability to hit up. its one of our various problems but I would like this bloke or howard in especialy because of the 3 tall in form backs for the cats.

I would rather get games into Howard now.

This team is going nowhere fast as it stands at the moment and we need to look at the bigger picture long term.

Give me a break. So the players are going to lift just because Butcher is in the team? He is not going to make one bit of difference if we keep getting smashed in the midfield and there is no defensive accountability.
Nope but for all of his faults not giving %100 is not one of them. Bring him in for that alone.

I liked your previous post but you've just contradicted yourself by saying bring in Howard.

We gave Butcher a 1 year contract extension and by all reports has played well in the SANFL. We should be giving Butcher a go.
