Not sure how bringing butch in will be terrible. Our normal option of bombing it inside 50ty and watching the likes on Taylor mark it and run it out for a goal is starting to get a monotonous. If Westhoff is going to play further upfield I think we need Butch in. Neade has brought absolutely nothing and with Young and Wingard feeding of him why not make some of the Geelong defenders accountable.

could be an even worse one to leave charlie on his own against geelong's defence.
We were determined to turn Ryder into a KPF first and oart time ruckman second. He wasn't. His natural game is the exact opposite.

Now we are determined to turn Dixon into a mobile pack crashing KPF. We have as much chance of that as Choko would have had to turn Primus into Nic Nat style ruckman.
All great player but they are what they are.

Westhoff isn't a key forward's arsehole
Schulz is injured

Dixon will struggle especially with our delivery. Butcher would have been a handy in. Surely Neade could have made way... I really don't see it with that kid. I like him, he does some cool stuff like that tackle on Garland at the G and his bump on Dustin Martin but he just doesn't impact the game much and his forward pressure/headless chook running amounts to nothing much.

Could not agree more. Neade is one of my personal favorites, I love what he does, when he does it, but most of the time he just looks scared with the ball, he's one player I've just always felt like he doesn't believe in himself all that much. I wish that went away as much as anyone and he performed well consistently. He really has the ability to fill that role and kick two goals a week without turning over four more. But it's not happening right now, and it's 2016.

Neade OUT, Butcher IN was my no. 1 selection, I know the coach knows better and all but it's just silly to me.

Butch to come in once we mathematically can't make finals, play a string of games, straighten us up, get the fans out of the doldrums and electrify the portress, bringing several wins.
The scary part is that while it meant to be sarcastic, you know it is true.

Westhoff should be in the back lines pushing up the finks as an out of the foward press, not bringing Dixon down to do the job.

As it stans Neade is not a small forward. He is a creative HFF/winger.
Dixon is not a mobile forward. Ryder is a ruck that rests in the forward line not the other way around.

Unfortunately it seems as if we are trying to turn them into what they aren't.

However that is what Hinkley thinks we need to win a premiership and he has every right to try and do it his way. Hopefully he will be able to achieve his goals.

i don't think he's too far away. if he hits the score board this week with a close to 4 quarter performance he'll force his way in. he's so close

Stewart is possibly our most underrated player.
He may not be a superstar but he is a good player that can cover many roles and would get to play most games in many teams.

Here's a thought.
In 2015, a pretty shitty year all round, John Butcher played in 5 games for 4 wins and a loss by under 10 points against Freo in Perth.

Call it coincidence, chance whatever, but those are some damn good odds when that young man plays.

Release the Butch. Drop Lobbe.
Ruck Dixon and Howard, and make Butcher our number 1 forward target.

Butcher would have absolutely and unquestionably been a better selection than 3/4 of our side tonight, and even if you absolutely don't rate him at all, the lack of marking targets was staggering.
Westhoff has stunk it up for 4 of 5 weeks now.
Neade has kicked a whopping 2 goals in 5 games.
Chad is playing like Prima Donna.
Robbie is petulant.

Amazing that Butcher couldn't get a game amidst all of that.

Dear Ken,

Reasons to play Butcher:

1) He is kicking goals in the SANFL.
2) He is a marking target that is not Charlie Dixon.
3) His teammates like playing with him.
4) The fans love him.

And after tonight we can add a new one to the list:

5) To save your coaching career.

Other teams? There's other teams?
At the very least, if Butch is playing, we'll have someone/something to f@%king cheer for!
If Butch plays against Richmond I'll watch. If not I'm not sure I will. Watching Port is not entertaining currently. At least Butch has that value. Shanks and all.
