Years gone. Give him the rest of the year in the side. Will play ok. Get another contract. Then won't get a game when we have no forwards next year.

So this off-season, we are expected to recruit two AFL quality KPFs ready to play in 2017, two potentially elite mids and a second ruckman.

That's basically what our list needs right now to compete with the next six teams in the comp.

We can't afford to lose both Butcher and Schulz this year, not when Dixon is averaging 2 goals and 3-4 marks per game.

Schultz is cooked what do you expect him to do? Rather go small every week then role out butch and Schultz next year

If schulz and butch went this s**t in the dry have a go but in what universe are we arguing we expected anything more from our key forwards today.

So you'd give him another contract?

In a heartbeat.

Schulz is about to retire and Howard will be on the LTI for most of 2017.

You'd be psychotic not to sign him, but then again we didn't think covering Ryder would be a prudent idea so who the f@#k knows what'll happen.

They were not being played as lead up forwards for most of the game as hinkley went for smalls leading up. Did you even watch the game?
We smashed it in forward entry after the next and they were nowhere near it..

I love Jay but he's finished and Butcher simply isn't AFL quality. Leave him in the SANFL all year that's fine.

We play him and we see what happens.

We try recruiting a decent (ie non-Vickery) 75% KPF/30% ruck type to complement Trengove and at least one of Butch or Schulz won't be on our list next year.

Butcher was positioning himself too high up the ground. He was always half a kick way from the contest. When we got the ball he was too close so the kicked over his head a lot. Why doesn't he stay forward and be the target.

His game was on par with Schulz.

He battled manfully for a handful of disposals, including a nice assist to Gray, despite having no supply for 3 quarters in a monsoon.

If you can't see that then you seriously have NFI.
This was so predictable. That Butcher has the sort of game that you'd expect from a KPF with under 30 games experience, in the wet, when after half time his midfield delivery was non-existent or a steaming turd. And from that the anti-Butcher brigade would use it to proclaim they were right and ditch him. If Ken drops Butch prior to Dixon coming back, then he can GAGF.

Normal tactic of bomb it in and hope. The one time we did Schulz took it in front and converted. He needs to stay in and with Howard out until mid 2017 we'd be crazy to get rid of him. Imagine Schulz alone inside 50 if Dixon breaks again.

He does not position himself for the next option, or any option, by hand or foot. when the ball is coming in to the forward line, he always seems to be in the wrong spot & does not have a second effort.
His work off the ball does not happen.

I don't think Butcher was going hard enough for long enough. He had a couple of moments but that has effectively been his entire career. Schulz may be done as well, not sure if he can squeeze another year out of his body.

We either trade in a Dawes type 2nd KPF to support Dixon or just hit the draft hard.

Dixon got 5 touches and 0 goals 0 behinds last week in 71% game time.. No one would have dropped him this week if he wasn't injured.

Butch comes in for his first game of the year in ridiculously poor conditions and gets 7 touches 1 behind. No one is saying it's a great game, but to write him off after it is delusional. Play him the rest of the year.

Anyone with half a brain could figure out that the goals were always coming from the midfield in a wet game like this.

Ebert and Gray combined for 7 goals. Smith and Shiel combined for 4 goals.

Their superstar gun forwards, Cameron and Patton, only kicked 2 goals and 1 goal respectively, despite having the ball in their half for the majority of the last 3 quarters. If that meagre output is all that the best in the business could generate when given ample opportunity then what could you expect from our forwards (not just Butch) when they were starved of that opportunity in horrible conditions?

Seriously people just want to say that the poor bastard failed to validate their opinions irrespective of circumstance.
