Jeremy cameron is in a shit team and look at him. He is hungry butch just does not have that hunger for the ball or contest. But he should.
 
I won't be writing any angry letters if Butcher is dropped this week. You have to perform to get a game. I'm just hoping that he gets a good run with the Maggies and gets his confidence up, and hits the track hard during preseason and is back in the side for round 1.

We'll definitely miss him for structural purposes if he goes out. Even if Stewart or Salter replace him.
 
Will go with Kens judgement I just don't know....would like to leave him in the SANFL for a while but don't like any other option....maybe Lobbe forward? ..nah just leave him one more week see what happens....up to Ken.
 
How's Shaw going in the seconds? Why not give him a go see what he can bring to the table.

This club has ****ed Salter around a lot, he deserves one last crack especially if Butcher is playing poorly.
What is so horrible about giving a guy who is a reliable loooong set shot a chance up forward.
should be able to get a few easy marks on the 50m line surely.
I know Stewart just played well but stuff him, had plenty of chances
 
Stewart kicked 3 from 8 touches, Salter kicked 1 from 20 touches
 
shaw isn't going too great in the sanfl so he doesn't warrant a selection yet. Salter should be an inclusion ahead of stewart but you never know with our selectors

I wonder how Cameron would go if he hadn't ever had a preseason and was beleaguered by back and hip issues we look to only finally be on top of?

Quite happy for him to play next year after a full preseason if he warrants selection. Not sure why people want him to continue playing this season though.

- i wouldnt lose my shit if he got dropped. but i would rather he stay in.

pro

1. fitness is an issue. playing afl will be better for his fitness than sanfl. fact.

2. butch playing lets westhoff float up the ground, which is better for the team. fact

3. confidence is an issue. im not sure playing for the maggies horrible side will be any better than running around in the afl side. debatable.

4. butch demands a defender, im yet to see his defender running off him and hurting us.

5. butch in the f50 has allowed shultz to run and give us another gateway to attack. something we have struggled with in the past.

6. shultzs form has been better since butch has been in the side. coincidence? i doubt it.

cons

1. out of form.

2. can miss easy shots on goal killing momentum wasting easy opportunities.

3. drop him to gain form and confidence in the sanfl. debatable.

4. drop him to bring another key forward in. no other forwards in better form that havent had butchers opportunities before. salts is much more a lead into space target ala monfries, gray, shultz are rather than kick it on top of my head target that butch can provide (shultz as well as lead) as well as his leads.

i cannot see any other cons. anything else you might try to put there would be highly debatable. if you want him out of the side you must hold the 2 or 3 cons above the many many more pros. i would suggest the pros far far far outweigh the cons.
 
We will delist dstew, salts, ebert, hitchcock and and possibly another forward at years end.

Playing them is a waste of time unless it is a fair well match. Not to mention it could trigger contractual issues and addition costs.

So if it is not Butcher or another youth who is part of the future it is a step backwards.

The word is 'farewell'. I don't go overboard on misspellings but it took me a second or so to work out what you meant.
 
We need Butcher to stay healthy, his hips to stay sound, do 95%+ of the preseason and get him a kicking coach to kick bloody goals from easy shots.

We need to ask Ben Perkins back to the club. He fixed up Tredders kicking for goal. His is a bit eccentric but you might need someone like that to fix up Butcher's eccentric kicking style.

I stuck this video, as well as 8 others from Ben in the Ben Perkins Show thread on the Black Diamond Corner board a month ago. You can tell from this one, how important he reckons big forwards kicking goals is, as well as showing some of his eccentricity. I love his pisstake of Mark Neeld in a couple of other videos. The other videos are in the following thread. This is the thread I mentioned yesterday pastmyprimus

You don't kick 11 goals in your first 4 games if you are a dud, that's for sure. 2014 will be his year. Fast, great contested mark. He just needs to improve his fitness and stay injury free and we'll be laughing.

not sure if butch knew who Ben was coz i didn't see a reply

Maybe Butcher is like 85% of the population, he doesn't use twitter?
 
I don't think you know what the word 'upside' means. Either that or you didn't watch us play in the last month of 2011 (can't say I'd blame you for that though).

Butcher most certainly has significant upside. It remains to be seen whether he'll actually reach it, but saying that he doesn't have it whatsoever is moronic.
