Its all mental with his action. In the pre game warm up he had a set structural run up of the same number of steps each time. X steps before X jogging steps before kick. Whilst he was only kicking about 50% from 30 out, it was the same run up, each time. A bit rigid, but it was there.

Then comes that first shot on goal and its completely different. Looked like someone that hadn't kicked a football before. Chalk and Cheese. Its amazing what pressure can do.
You can just see in his eyes he lacks confidence. I've dealt with younger people enough to know talent really shines along with the confidence. There's amazing talent out there in every facet of life that will never be uncovered, because people are scared of what other people think of them.

Do you guys reckon he is 100% delisted?
No I don't.

The selection table this week will reveal a lot IMO, but not all.

My bet is shaw will leave, schulz will stay, butcher to get a one year contract regardless of the dixon situation.
This is also my feeling.

I say play Butcher the rest of the season, and damn straight I wana see the bloke succeed, but where's Butch gonna fit into the side when Dixson comes on over? o_O

We'll worry about it when it happens and also on what happens with Schulz.

There were 3 weeks where I thought he was a monty to be delisted. Mainly due to contracts and him being played back.

Now with decline in form of several players I can see an alternative route with potentially delisting a couple contracted players.

I so wanted Butch to make it, after today I'm still left wanting:(

He's got the heart and desire but not the tools.
He's got the tools Jumbs. He's only missing a master to either show him how to use them correctly, or a master to have the patience to let him learn some more. Unfortunately in this now now now.......I want it now society, we could lose a true blood of the game. I'm hoping Kenny gives him one last shot. Who knows what's in John's mind. He may not want to. He might hate living in Adelaide. Whatever it is I wish the very best for our Butch.

don't know about everyone else, and I am admittedly a glass half full guy, but Butcher is still a work in progress for me.

I can see Butcher as a 10 season +60 game guy.

Genuine confidence player. Sh1t kick but the balance of his skills are at an average to above average level.

I spoke to the Butch tonight, I can tell you as happy as some of us we're that he played today - no one was happier than John. He was genuinely feeling like he would never play with his mates again.
I have no doubt he would love to stay here, and would take any contract we can give him to prove himself to us all.

Did he do his hamstring with that last shocking kick for goal?

No. Played the game out and waved the trainers away. Was cramping.

Not unhappy with this, although would love to see Mason flourish too.I know we can't fit them all in. Be interesting to see Dixon FF ( second ruck to Paddy) , Butch CHF, Sarge flanking around for another year or two teaching the boys to kick straight. Jackson true CHB, Paddy resting FB depending on if Bobby wants to keep on keeping on. Had a few beers now so I'm fantasizing of my dream team.

Also, in the lead up play to Butcher's goal, how good was the one handed pickup by Mitchell of all people? It was Shaun Burgoyne esque
Gun. Love Kane, gives his all.

ThanksTSW. Can only hope the best for him.

Since the scenario is that Dixon is injury prone and Schulz is likely to leave, it'd be good list management to have someone like Butcher as a backup.

If.

Our first KPF list management move needs to be to get Dixon. Our second KPF list management move needs to be to retain Schulz. Our third KPF list management move needs to be to retain Shaw.

If we fail at any if these steps, and I'd think that chances are that we'll fail at at least one of them, then I'd keep Butch on a one year contract, and I'd keep him on the senior list too.

If we can find a way to get Dixon and retain Schulz and Shaw, then as much as I hate to say it I'm not sure there's a place for him. List spots on an AFL list are at a premium.

Sounds better IF you just pretend he's already coming ;)
Better to try and water and enjoy the grass that's on your side, than hope there's something greener and lusher on that other side. Where is that other side anyway?

Can I just ask, in the three years Shaw has been here, what's he done exactly to deserve a spot over Butch?

I can't answer. But I'd say zip. Butch can play AFL, and also holds some epic mouth positions when the ball comes his way . I've watched a few Maggies games and Mason has not done anything, but hasn't he been injured? If Mason can hold down two big AFL defenders, kick a couple of goals, assist in three others........while holding his mouth in multiple poses, then he's starting to get up there with the Butch.

The whole point of all of my posts in this thread.
