Kennedy was named on the bench, if he was any chance to play surely he would have been named on the field, I'm expecting Butler to take Kennedy's place tomorrow

Would be awkward considering Butler is in Perth and played WAFL today.

I can only think they opted for pace because with Butler, Waters, A Selwood etc down back they are good but all similar one paced.
I like smith in our side because of the pace factor, but surely butler would be nice in there for that "get out" kick - he is usually very accurate down there (yes I know we have Hurn but if he's being watched closely he may fade out).
The only thing I can think of is that we have gone for more pace because of the likes of Dalhaus, Gia, Higgins & Cooney.
What does Adam Selwood provide that Butler doesn't? Because Butler definitely has Selwood covered in disposal skills and decision making.
And hardness. However as another poster pointed out, kicking and decision making is better. A lot better.Tagging.
I think this is correct. There has to be a point where we start playing some of our players that have shown promise and been on the list for 2/3 years. We have a heap of HBF who look in good form. I would of thought it was someone else to make way other than Butler though but maybe they think his impact is limited.theres a bigger picture i suspect-getting gametime into younger players for next season-weighed up against a butler or a waters who have peaked as serviceable players, but ultimately holding back players who can potentially take it another level higher..the run+carry style players..in short, its transition time! butler admits it in his own words..
(i didnt mention a.selwood above coz he's in a different class IMO,as a negator..and i know many disagree)
this is only big footy - you can sleep well at nightsIf Butler had played 20 games last year he would probably have been AA squad at least. Butler is in his prime footy years and the second best kick in the team (behind Hurn), a sure tackler and fantastic desicion maker. I really don't like the implication the quality of our selection panel when a person with those skills not being best 22.

I'd be very surprised if they dropped Smith against Melbourne. In the end it comes down to the question of did he do as he was asked.
If he is dropped, why not bring in Stevenson or Brennan?
