Each year before the season, I like to ponder to myself where I will be how I will be feeling before a Round 20 clash, so I thought i'd share it in a thread and see where you all beleve we will be acting/playing.

I think before the first bounce against the Kangaroos in Round 20 this year, we will be competing with two other teams for 10th spot, 9th spot or possibly even 8th.

What do you think we will be attempting to do?

avoid the spoon. JKS....should be a big game for us as well be just out of the 8 but coming 11th or 12th. I think there will be bunch of teams like us, sydney, dogs and brisbane fighting it out for that 8th spot

Preparing myself for three more glorious weeks of tanking!!!:thumbsu:

Daniel Rich a blue!!!

Come round 17 and it looks dubious as to whether we will make the finals we should tank for Michael Hurley.....forget Daniel Rich, we don't want another spoon......Hurley and Jamison holding down the KPD spots for the next 8-10 years ;):thumbsu::)

I would be very happy with that. Hurley is a beauty! Rich is the best player in next years draft, but Hurley could be more valuable down the track. We must remember it's very difficult to find a key defender of his class. Quality mids are always available in every draft.

But Jamison holding down a KPD spot has many many many question marks.:confused::confused::confused:

Hurley will be a ten to fifteen year player. Jamison? I'm not convinced he'll play 50 games.

Lol, the new season is still two months away and already u guys are talking about tanking and kids most of us have never heard of

I hope we have a good year this year, but on the other hand I wouldn't mind if we had another top 4 pick. We will never win a flag or create a dynasty with our poor defence. Hurley is the answer.:thumbsu:.

Playing finals in 2008 would be great, but in the long term it could be the worst thing to happen to the club. Getting our hands on Hurley could be the answer to our defensive problems.

How can you beleive that continuously attempting to lose to gain players is our team's future? There's always going to be one good playr in teh draft that everyone wants, but that doesn't mean that we should go WAY out of our way to gain his services. A Premiership team is built by winning, not continuously delaying our guys successful careers by trying to pick up the top new guy.

Hahahaha. I know this doesn't represent all of you. But my god!

Worry about your own club mate.

Have you decided which team you will support in a few years time? We all know the Kangaroos won't be around in 5 years.

For the record, I never said I wanted us to come in the bottom four! I said, I would love to play finals but if we don't, I wouldn't mind a top four pick. Who wouldn't?

Quite right. Because the boys will be full of confidence going into 2009 with the inclusion of a future KPD in Hurley. Forget Judd and Stevens, they managed to move us up a 13th but it'll Hurley who'll ensure we go all the way.

I think another bottom 4 season could be a disastrous result for the club in 2008, more for the players pyschi than anything else. After all the hype surrounding the recruitment of Judd, the return of Stevens and another number 1 draft pick in 2008 the boys would surely be set for a much improved 08 (not necessarily finals, but not far off). Finish bottom 4 and they'll be asking what the hell they have to do to get themselves off the bottom of the ladder, after the biggest coup in who knows how long.

I don't know why people are getting on your back here... I agree with you. It doesn't represent all Carlton supporters and it is deplorable to be thinking like this prior to even the NAB cup. Certainly not the Carlton arrogance that supporters remember so fondly.

I for one wouldn't. A top four pick means that we have to finish in the bottom four, and the bottom four just doesn't cut it for me, i'm not sure about you.

I'm sick of finishing low on the ladder, it really is a depressing for me to know that in the four or so years I have been fully into footy, the only success i've seen from my club is two, freakin', Pre-Season cup's. That's not good enough. And already, already, before the seasons has even started, there's chit-chat about who we should target in the first four picks? I'm sorry but that just straight up pisses me off.

Actually we would have to finish in the bottom three to get a top 4 pick.... you forgot about Richmonds priority pick at seasons end :D
