Don't play the kids cos pushing for a flag. Scotts sack.

Plays kids and defensive structures break down as a consequence. Scotts sack. The cognitive dissonance is strong around here.
Many of us were a little more nuanced. We asked that the team simply be picked on form, not reputation. If the experienced player wasn't doing well, and there's someone in Werribee who can replace him, then do it. If it's a young player, give them a few games and the chance to get exposure at the highest level. Mostly, Scott didn't.

I think if Brad Scott has been coaching 'fumble, fumble, fumble' pick up the ball and handball it to the feet of your teammate who 'fumbles, fumbles, fumbles' picks up the ball and kicks it inaccurately to the forward who kicks it straight through the points, then he may well be the Best coach Ever.

I like how our "putting all our eggs in the winning the first game basket" didn't work, so we are reverting to our tried and tested "complete pus for March and April then storming home for an assault on the finals" approach.
This was our normal Rd 1 humiliating effort.

2016 was an aberration.

How is it Brad a Scott's fault if grown men like Waite, Swallow and Thomas cannot kick a goal from 20 metres directly in front? That was always going to be a loss today but should have been an admirable 18 point loss.
Unfortunately the buck stops with the coach, these mediocre senior players are a direct result of Scott's coaching tenure.

It's not the right question, though. There is not one human in the world who would coach this group to a flag.
It never was a group capable enough anyway.

Even when we were 9-0, when we were robbed of a spot in the GF in 2015. We just didn't have the last bit of ingredients to a perfect cake.

But we had success. Which is all that matters anyway right?

My expectations this year is we get as many games as possible into our youth whilst developing JZs role as a captain. He has the emotion, just needs the composure. Let's hope everything will 'click'.

I don't want another 2009-10. That shit I won't tolerate.

If brad doesnt get us back into the 8 next year, sure, lets see if there are better options.

If brad doesnt meet performance criteria defined on his contract, then again sure we can see if there is anyone who we think can succeed.

But unless there are serious player/coach issues then there is no way we pay someone a bunch of cash to walk - its terrible business and has no proven effect. Hey carlton, hows that going, hey collingwood - you bucking the trend yet, of I forgot about how sunny it is up in the gold coast right now.

Lets face it - we lost a bunch of players, we are playing a bunch of kids. We didn't beat westcoast in round 1. Brad and his coaches might have some issues, but we just lose money without gain by sacking him before his contract expires.

So Wells, Harvey, Dal Santo, Petrie and Firritto were not in our next premiership side but Gibson, Thompson, Hansen and Thomas apparently are. Footy is all about numbers these days. They've turned it into a science.

How can you justify keeping players in there late 20s on the list ahead of guys in there mid to early 30s. It's all about the number of your age these days not how you perform. I would have rathered Wells, spud and Harvey out there today instead of Gibson, Hansen and Thompson any day of the week.

We are 100% tanking as a football club for top end draft picks. Nothing else has worked for 18 years so we're going to try bottoming out. Can't blame the heirachy really, but let's be honest behind closed doors the hierarchy know and don't care if we finish bottom 3. Very dangerous territory when you start using playing kids as an excuse for losing. Not a way of setting a winning culture at all. Fair enough we are playing the kids but if brad goes soft on the group and excepts selfish football I won't cop that. He's even already pre empted before the season starts that our effort might waver through the year. He needs a new book of superlatives to get him through his last year.

So a club that has a 'no gambling' culture, decent facility, decent money in the bank, heaps of members and supporters, a rather above-average side that needs developing, is going to tank?

I'm sorry, but we're not Melbourne. We're North Melbourne. The better club that has the longest streak of wins against the club that tanked. Brad Scott wouldn't go that low.
