But but we saw adaptability post back surgery remember he saw things differently watching the game from home.
Throw Tarrant to full forward at three quarter time for five minutes take a risk it might throw the opposition it might not work who cares try something. Waite to half back anything. Brad is stubborn, risk adverse.
My favorite is when the camera goes to Brad while we are getting smashed and he realises he is on screen and he picks up the phone and pretends to be thinking hard. How many times i've seen this happen.
What the hell is he really thinking about cause senior players kicking out on the full or a player missing targets by foot by twenty meters doesn't seem to concern him cause they get selected every week.
The problem with Brad is that he allows himself to be judged variadly by retaining a stoic facade that has been developed, honed and refined that aims to remain consistent in all situations. It's your typical corporate executive training program that his brother, Bucks and a few others have gone on as part of their development. The guys who remained true to themselves like Clarko, Bevo and Horso have had the most recent success by the way.
Anyway my point is that Brad doesnt coach like he played, a campaigner, if he did then he would be a different coach. I am a firm believer that you should never compromise your natural style too much as when you start to diverge from what comes natural, in pressure situations this can become a problem.
When he is planning and executing during the week he does so in a calm and relaxed tone, i would like to see him do that with a bit of venom by dropping any prick who didn't do their job or did it poorly. A Peter Finch outburst every now and again wouldn't go astry either to loosen the maternal strings a bit.
I like what i see in the young players, i like their aggressive nature during the JLT but they all went into their shell in round 1. Drop Hanson and Thompson immediately, they are poor defenders now and while Lachie gives 100% and is fearless, Thompson is the complete opposite and provides a poor example to our young blokes. I wonder what Durdin is thinking that a player who ducks his head when under the ball and succumbs to pressure like butter in a microwave is getting games ahead of him. How he retains his spot is beyond me.
Scott needs to be bold, stand by his young brood and drop 3 seniors and bring back Cunners, Clarke and Durdin this week. Time is now Scott (s)
