Phillyroo 2 questions what is acceptable win loss ratio over the last 4 games.

How many finals should we win?
3-1 but hoping for 4-0.

We should win one final, and depending on whom we play in the second week and where it is, I would be optimistic we could snatch an upset.

The outrage on this is hilarious... We are in page 86 of a "Bye Bye Brad Scott thread" and showing support and belief in the coach that won two finals just last year, and has led us to 5 wins straight has created an avalanche of anger, disdain and abuse....

It was a bad question?? Why? I am being genuine. If a big name young player wanted to know about the stability of our football department it would not be a surprise. I wasn't saying sign him because of it, I was just putting it out there that if we miss on FA's this year that it could be a factor.
Sure, it could be. However the implication is that this should potentially influence the direction of the club, which given where we are right now in our development, should be a secondary, if not tertiary concern. Given your Scott support I think it only natural for the assumption to be that you support this line of thinking. Apologies if this is not the case.

Should I forward any thoughts I have to you first to make sure they are up to standard before putting green to the general public??
I think that would be a good idea, yes. I will put my minions to work to determine their suitability for posting and rework for public consumption.

Because Port have gone backwards it's ok for us too?
A couple of things on Port, don't under estimate the effect of losing Phil Walsh, AND despite being a rabble they still managed to beat us!!
It's not ok for us to go backwards, and so far we haven't. We are in a better position now than what we were last year at the same time.

That's not what created the unrest, and you know it. Unless you haven't been reading. Or watching.

Apology accepted, because not for a moment did I mean that we should be held to ransom by a potential recruit... More that not having stability for the near future may count against us in our hopes to land a big fish.

I did, I was there, and plan to watch the replay tonight. I thought though Melbourne played well we weathered the storm and won by 6 goals... Did I miss something?
We were shit and completely disorganised for half the game....

If we played any decent opposition it would have been another one of those 10 goal losses.

Fine, take out the North history. Scott and Simpson are two men with no ties to North.

Now take North of the last 6 years, with all the positives & negatives, all the development failures and the great games in finals and all the crushing, shearing disappointment of random games in Round 17 and losing on the Gold Coast and label it Club A. Scott coached them for 6 years and is responsible for all their positives & negatives. Now he is a free agent.

Take West Coast of the last three years, with their almost-bottoming out and their crushing defeats, then their revival under Simpson and their wonderful home record and their player development triumphs and their great midfield, their terrifying forward line and their top 2 record with their best key defender missing and their still-somewhat-suspect away record. Simpson coached them for 2 years of the 3, and now he is a free agent.

If you were the CEO of a football club, with a blank cheque and free reign to pick whatever coach you wanted free of any existing loyalties or foibles, which would you take?

We are one game in front but last year we finished with 4 teams that didn't make the 8. This year we have 3 teams that will, including the top team. I will always hold out hope that one year a team will win the premiership from outside the top 4 (except when we are in the top 4) but its going to be hard. If we win all 4 there is every chance we get to a prelim. A prelim could be against West Coast in Melbourne. There is hope. But we lose 2 games and we wont even make the eight and for me, we should never have put ourselves in such a precarious position.

Na.... I disagree you are not giving enough credit to the opposition.
We left Cunnington on his own to mind Hogan inside their forward 50... guess what happened.

Dumb football, dumb coach.

We have no accountability, no killer instinct and no culture. We get by on talent but like they say, it only takes you so far.

Sorry, have had lots to respond to... I still take Scott. He has done it for longer, I dispute he hasn't developed players as well as you say. I dispute that the credit for WC development can be attributed to someone who has only been there for such a short time. All teams get injuries mate, we have had our fair share too. West Coast have achieved stuff all so far, they could conceivably lose their next three and drop out of the top 4....
Don't get me wrong I love Simmo, was and is an all time fave. But to declare him the chosen one off of last year.... And 3/4 of this year is jumping the gun. Brad is the public figure, the leader that this club needs. In my opinion, and I'm sure many will disagree.

Sorry, I'm not even taking the piss I promise. But can you break that down for me. If we win all four we finish where after H&A?? And how would the prelim against WC be in Melb?

Yeah because that never happens to Hawthorn... Or Sydney, or Freo.
On turnovers sometimes match ups are mismatched.

We kicked 7 goals to 3 in the last quarter, we have won every last quarter for the last 5 weeks... Killer instinct all over the damn place!

We win all 4 and we are likely to finish 5th or 6th. We need SYD to drop a game to come 4th.
If West Coast come second and both they and Freo win in the first week there are two Prelims due to be played in Perth. Now I'm pretty sure that the MCG contract means one Prelim needs to be played there (but I could be wrong). So if we finish 5th, win our first 2 finals we get to play a Prelim against West Coast at the MCG!

AFL may do some deal with the MCG where they miss out on a Prelim with a guarantee of certain finals next year, I'm not sure.

Sorry mate but if we win our first final we would be playing one of the top 4 losers from week one in week 2, so we would be playing probably Sydney in Sydney, West Coast in Perth or Freo in Perth... If we were to win one of those finals I think they would sign Brad on the spot.
It was a hypothetical dude. But kudos for rerouting it in such a way.

I thought they changed that when Brisbane got ****** years ago. And I'd be backing Hawthorn to host a prelim btw.

Haha sorry, but I was trying to figure out how we could play the Cats, who are turning into our bunnies, in the second week of the finals... It would be a gift from God!

Winning form is good form.

People wanted him to change. HE changed.

He demanded the players be accountable. He drops some and made Boomer the Sub.

And still you complain.

He has not set a foot wrong since his return ya mugs.

BTW, anyone that was actually at the ground would have seen that Dawes and Hogan rag dolled Thompson and Tarrent. They were just so much better than our defenders.

******* arm chair generals.
