2 players who take the next step isn't enough. The younger core, besides a select few, haven't come on to be consistent performers. And thats in the now, the future is precariously placed due to overall age of our list. The young kpps are the greatest concern. We need some kids to come on.

Oh I didn't realise that we had bombed from this years finals series already...

wait and see sunshine. It doesn't take a fortune teller to predict our fate. Only a fatal romantic could have hope for a deep September. Lets just see how we handle the Saints.

Five wins in a row against Geelong (Etihad)and four of the bottom five sides (we lost to the other by 10 goals) doesn't change the fact we've been found wanting against every good side that has applied pressure this season, have still managed to put in shit quarters regularly and have still managed to not take the right attitude into games regularly.

The last three weeks and the finals will tell a lot about whether this is a genuine turnaround or just us beating sides we should beat.

I've no doubt when we are "on" we are an excellent footy side.

We are also "off" far too often to be a great side. We lost the Port game because we switched off twice (last five minutes of the 2nd and last five minutes of the 4th), we were terrible in the second against Sydney and lucky not to be further behind, and you can't really mention the first half of the Collingwood game without mentioning the second half.

Brad's challenge remains how often we switch off - it still happens far too regularly, and IMO we are lucky we've played some poor sides in the last month. Geelong was a four quarter performance however, one of our only ones for the year.

That's me.... But kangatime doesnt think I'm passionate because:
a) I live in Melbourne
b) I write positive things about my team
c) I don't want to sack Scott.
When did I ever say you're not passionate? I just said you have low expectations. You never answered my question, at the start of the season, did you beleive we would be top 4?

Personally I picture you as a dwarf dressed like Brad

Well said, captures everything. We have reason to be optimistic because our best is very good. We have reason to be pessimistic and overly cautious because every effing week we prove that we don't have it above the shoulders to bring our best for the full game. And that's hard to accept given the current 'program' has been run for the best part of six years.

Having said that, I am cautiously excited that it is not far off all clicking together. We'll know soon enough.

That's it for me in a nutshell. Perhaps I take it too seriously but the lack of mental application is not a consequence of interrupted preseasons, but culture and belief, and that is a huge problem imo.

Lucky you.

I'm bloody jaded.

My pure rage??
Did you even read the thread first??
I love this thread. I cant wait until Bard gets the ass.

As ive stated many times, the Hawthorn game was the last game where he had my support. 19 x 50+ floggings in 5.5 years, still cant halt run ons, still cant produce a 4 quarter effort, cant get up for X amount of games per season, waffles on like a wanker in pressers saying shit like "its an easy fix" but then we dont turn up, cant win round one- ever, makes soft selections with the MC, only drops fringe players, has a dodgy spine:D

He gets my support back if he wins a flag this year. Otherwise **** OFF BARD!:thumbsu:

Good edit on my original post by the mods too lol

Many here feel this way but..................even the media. Not many of them have come out and batted for us, many are still saying " verdict is still out on Nth Melb"

BUT those same pundits for generating discussion are sprouting Richmond and the Bullies, and we're equal the Tigers and 1 game behind the Bullies. We beat them theyre back on the bandwagon again.

Unless you have little confidence going against these 2 teams I dont see the problem. Sure theyll be testing games but we must hold the faith here folks.

I'm confident we win this week and win well. Saints have injury issues and being so young they are tailing off.

The following three weeks will determine Scott's future. We have been ok recently but really just beating teams we should be, just not as comfortably as we otherwise should be.

We lose all three coming up and miss finals (with a near healthy and aging list), i'd would hope we have the strength to pay him out, and bring new ideas in to at least try and maximize the final years of our many aging stars.

I'd rather win all three of course, but I have a strong feeling we will be exposed once again when the real heat comes.

Brendan Bolton would be my first choice on exposed coaches assuming Simmo can't/won't come back - sure he is untested as Brad was, but we have nothing to lose by moving on and he has excellent credentials.
