6 years of "eh, we're sort of there but not quite but we are, but we aren't, but we are on certain weekends, then we aren't again", culminating in a dream run to a preliminary where we proceeded to get smacked by a team who promptly went out and shit the bed against one of the great teams of the modern era. Player development has stagnated, first round picks from 5 years ago are only just now maybe slightly coming good, the most promising players we've drafted come from our rookie list & we routinely give other teams, regardless of their prowess, 30 minutes a week to slap our testicles around. We are unpredictable and nobody, not even the supporters, can ever back us with any certainty because the coach has created two North Melbournes: one that cares, fights, runs, battles & wins, and one that falls over against the Gold Coast.

Up against a man who bled for this club, who won premierships for this club, who would kill for this club, who led this club through maybe one of the darkest periods in its history, who also just happens to currently be coaching a team with an average winning margin of about a billion points at home, sitting second on the ladder, with a dynamic midfield contained players drafted and developed into guys who lead the competition in average disposals, who win and win well nearly everywhere they go, who have a frightening forward line and are covering the loss of their best defender with another player they drafted and developed. They're doing all this roughly two years after being comprehensively pants.

Simpson would get the job over Brad and the club would be batshit insane to not give it to him if he asked.

Once again, I told you this. Aspirations of senior coaching, from a club that has a win at all costs culture under a successful coach. You're dismissing every single bloody option due to meaningless viewpoints. Bolton coaches under the smartest coach of our time but the way you dismiss him is dismal.

We have a list profile that tells us that we should be aiming for the last two weeks of the year and the depth to put us top 4, but we fail to live up to justified expectation. The question must be asked if we are to keep going down the same path with the same coach if we fail to make finals this year or get the arse after a week.

Scott is now the fifth most experienced head coach in the AFL currently behind Eade, Clarkson, Roos and Lyon. Clarkson and Roos are premiership coaches, Lyon has taken teams to finals in all but one year of his tenures and Eade is an old head brought in to right a ship. Any statement regarding replacing him must be framed by a changing coaching landscape, where new coaches from the pool of assistants has been the approach for the last 4-5 years, and long term coaches are being pushed aside. Therefor to state that there is no one better placed to take us forward is disingenuous and frankly mind-numbingly stupid unless those claiming that are embedded in the football community at a level whereby they know intimately the strengths and weaknesses of the coaching fraternity.

What I do know is that no matter how good a coach Scott is, that if we continue to play inconsistent football within games and on a week to week basis his time will be, and should be up sooner rather than later.

Well good for you for selectively quoting. The question was would Scott get a job over Simmo. It didn't say would he get the job at North over Simmo. So firstly Simmo's history at North wouldn't mean shit. Secondly Simmo is not available, and we would not go close to be being able to compete with West Coast in $$$ terms to pry him away. My question to you is this.... If North win 3 finals and lose the GF this year, and Simmo called up Funky Carl Dilena and told him he wanted to coach us next year, would you sack Scott and bring him in??
