No, there is nothing wrong at the Kangas.....just that they cant pay all thneir players at the moment, thats all.

That doesnt mean they are in financial difficulty, far from it it shows how flsuh with funds they are at the moment and how successful their corporate strategy is.

What, no blockbuster games for North? A blockbuster game for North is when the man who turns up brings his dog as well!!!!!

North, the Huddersfield Town of ther AFL

I did not know Huddersfeild Town were champions of the Premier League in 1996 and 1999... and they must have also won the FA Cup in 1995 and 1998... must be a damn good team that Huddersfield Town...

Some points for North:
1) Ask John Elloit how to trade when insolvent
2) Ask Melbourne how you get a supporter to throw in 3 million dollars.
3) $600,000 can be made up of 40,000 $15 match tickets--- about 3,700 people at each home game. So only a slight increase in crowd size and the debt is covered.
4) Geelong came back from a big loss last year.
5) At least Eddie Maguire is not our President, and Nathan Buckley our Captain, so things could be much much worse.
6)A footy Club is not there to make a profit- just break even, win heaps of games and win the flag.

i know you all think that melbourne is hanging by a thread and is depending on one person but... if u haven't heard melbourne actually announced a profit which is a good effort
now alot of people bag joe gutnick (can it be coz he is jewish? well i am jewish so don't start)when really he is a saint compare to elliot and all those other big headed jurkes! at lease he doesn't loose his drivers license. and what he did was very helpfull and don't worry he won;t abandon us coz he donated money to support not to make a profit like other presidents.
oh yeah and mergin with Hawthorn is not bad... its nothing like margin with the roos.
all the teams have had rough times (with the exception of carlton and essendon) so don;t compain and work it out!

DeesRule,

You should learn to spell! North are not "margin" with any other team.

Was John Elliot's licence loose or did he lose his licence?

Who or what is a big-headed "jurke"?

Michele,

I think you also have to learn how to spell in your above post.

In the last paragraph it should say "Essendon Premiers 2001" and not what you wrote.

What about the idea of the roos having a couple of home games in perth they have a stong following here in the west and the afl could capitailize on the idea by having two afl footy matches in perth ,say the roos and
saints on a friday night and a eagles or dockers home game on a sunday arvo i think it would be great to have two afl matches in town for the weekend well it wont hurt to try they have tried every think else.

Who the hell would show up to a North v St Kilda game in Perth? North only draw 1000 people max to games played here (whereas the well supported clubs in Perth like Essendon and Collingwood can get 2000+) and you wouldn't expect that to change, the other side (say St Kilda) would have another thousand supporters, so you're basically counting on a hell of a lot of Perth people who don't support either side to show up, because you won't get many travellers from interstate. A really optimistic crowd figure would be 7,000, and even only then if they reduce prices (it's hard enough watching your own team and paying the highest ticket prices in Australia, let alone a couple of Victorian teams). They may as well play games in non-AFL centres, like Cairns, Gold Coast, Canberra, Tassie or Darwin, where you can probably guarantee 10,000. Maybe if you were to be *really* adventurous, you could go to Wellington. At the very least, you'd promote the game in those centres.

BTW, for those of you in the know, is Carrara still around? Anyone play there now?

Eagleheart good point. North have a good following in Perth and I know that the WACA wants to host some games of AFL football in 2001 from a Victorian Club. I'm fairly sure North Melbourne would get more at the WACA rather than in Canberra.

I know for sure that North have over 1,000 members from WA and for the higher profiled Victorian Clubs (Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood) they have close to 5,000 fans here. Plus any football fan who isn't interested in seeing the Eagles or Dockers playing would turn up, plus any Eagles or Docker fans who are addicted to footy and want to see any game live in Perth, throw in WACA members and who knows.

The last I heard of Cararra, It's mostly used for local cricket but they still play QSFL in winter, can Danni or lioness help me out here?

Latest news reports have all the Roo players at the Brunto Avenue Punt Road intersection armed with window wipers and red buckets. Please give generously.

So guys have you heard the latest, seems that the North Money men put some big dollars on a double on Saturday Number 1 and Number 8 (Careys Number) horses Northey and Queen Carey, it is reported they won big bucks and gave most of it to the club, look up the papers for Saturdays results, think you will find that this has a lot of merit to it.

Noting like solid financial planning eh Daffy? How do you work that into the 5 year business plan?

Of course, Queen Carey is a truly appropriate title. Must be owned by a Poo supporter with a touch of honesty.
