Over the past few days a taut and angry social media screed about Tony Abbott’s performance as a local member spread virally through the prosperous suburbs that make up the seat of Warringah, traditionally a Liberal Party safe space.

“We are not political. We have never been involved in a movement or a political party. We are just trying to get on with life. But enough is enough. We feel compelled to speak up,” the post begins.

“Wake up Warringah! Let’s get out of the habit of just voting for whomever the Liberal Party throws at us. Please, don’t vote for Tony Abbott, the man who denies the reality that our world is changing.”

The comment, posted on the Facebook and Instagram pages of the group Vote Tony Out, went on to castigate Abbott for his decision to award Australia's highest honour to Prince Philip in the Australia Day honours of 2015 and for his stance on gay marriage.

“If you vote for Tony Abbott and his myopic beliefs,” it said at one point, “you also follow a misogynist into a dark cave made of coal.”>>>

Gays and and knighthoods are what concern them most lol. Not the sociopathic 2014 budget and broken promises which I'm sure they loved. Draconian policies that destroyed families and triggered suicides. But fattened their wallets! The sooner North Korea bombs Warringah and wipes them off the map the better!

Abbott's instinctive response is to insult anyone or thing that gets in his way but what does that even mean?
Is he implying that its bad to be a millionaire because that would be politics of envy which he tried to smear labor with?
Or is it that if you are a millionaire you are obliged to be right wing because its somehow wrong to be socially progressive?
It doesn't make sense any way you look at it.

The schadenfreude will be at epic levels if he loses his seat and completely off the chart if Dutton goes too.

In the Tory mindset, if you’re a millionaire you’re simply not allowed to be left-wing.

The other takeaway from this article is that GetUp’s campaign manager, Django Merope-Synge, would be a shoe-in if he chose to stand as the Silly Party candidate.

Their opponents mobilising

Their Christian Right supporters mobilising (and influencing the coalition further to the Christian Right)

The affluent middle classes realising they don’t represent them as much as they say they do


It wasn’t pretty, but the ALP leaving it to the Libs to address was political genius without knowing it
 
People are getting a bit carried away. There's no celebrity candidate so far that this rag tag mob of disaffecteds can get behind. The bloke off Australian Idol has said he won't stand again. Pete the Pirate is playing hard to get but he might be the one.

Getup have said they will be mounting a door knocking campaign. If you seen Getup volunteers you would know this could be counterproductive.

This guy gets it. Left wing millionaires love high immigration that makes their takeaway and Uber Eats cheap and doesn’t care that as a result you can’t afford to rent or buy anywhere because they’ve negatively geared their dozens of properties that are seeing stupdenous capital growth.
