Trust me when I say this. Eagles fans would of gave him the send off he deserved. Despite what he did to Kemp we still know he was a champ for your team. Id of stand and clapped him off thats for sure

No need to get abusive Maccas - although I know it's your default position when someone disagrees with your point of view..............what I'm trying to do is reconcile your view - with my equally numerous first hand experiences....I'm saying he's always been friendly and accommodating when the situation has allowed for it.

Maccas - with respect - you really don't see 5% of how Roo is at functions in Adelaide from where you sit.

No but MD Marty definitely sees Roo far more than most. Years ago before his tribe was born he pretty much travelled to every game with the squad and went to every post match. Ive seen Roo do some very ordinary things at official functions to people who absolutely adored him and who came away with a changed mind.

I would agree with you there - very shy man. But when you are a Captain you have obligations that need to be fulfilled. Unfortunately he made you feel like it was just that, an obligation - and often, one he resented. I think we had been spoiled for many years with Bickley who was one of the most personable players I have ever met. It was quite a shock to be confronted with Roo.

Dont get me wrong here the guy on the footy feild was and out and out champion.

There are many players that are champions but they also deal with the supporters better, I felt yesterday and even though Hawthorn won the game that Riccuito needed to honour the supporters, what is football at any level without supporters???Uncomprimising. Inclusive. Proud.

Only the week before at the after match he couldnt be bothered with supporters wanting a photo or an autography he was knocking them back by the droves, he simply wasnt interested.

They were still playing the club song and most were still celebrating a final won with the last kick of the day, their first final in six years.

I noticed him leaving and was clapping him off as were my sons and quite a few around me. If he'd run a lap or gone toward the crowd and applauded I'm sure many more would have realised what was happening and give him the send off he deserved. As it was, he just slipped off the ground with no announcement or fanfare at all. You're being a bit harsh - the fact that it was Roo's last game wasn't foremost in our minds at the time which, given the circumstances, can't be that hard to understand.
