Agreed Rissoles, great day for footy, but the Pirates just wanted it more when it counted.

As an aside, there's a pretty handy lump of a lad prowling the goalsquare for OC in the 11.40am fixtures.....if only, Rissoles.....if only......

Yes, Scribe, (sigh) excellent physical attributes coupled with little if any desire to compete at the highest level. Just wants to be with his mates - an ingrained trait of Gen Y or a throwback to the Anzacs? :(

The following was written by Pericles well over two thousand years ago, long before the first ANZAC Day, but only a stone’s throw from Gallipoli:
"Each has won a glorious grave - not that sepulchre of earth wherein they lie, but the living tomb of everlasting remembrance wherein their glory is enshrined. For the whole earth is the sepulchre of heroes. Monuments may rise and tablets be set up to them in their own land, but on far-off shores there is an abiding memorial that no pen or chisel has traced; it is graven not on stone or brass, but on the living hearts of humanity.
Take these men for your example. Like them, remember that prosperity can be only for the free, that freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it."
Lest we forget.

Who would have thought - match of the round between Monash and Peninsula? Both unbeaten and looking strong. Great challenge for the young Ashes. Still 2 or 3 guns to return but the new coach has got the boys going. New coach to go with a new President and a new skipper.

Been struggling big time so far this season, so time to lift my game:

Old Ivanhoe vs Old Camberwell
PEGS vs Marcellin
Peninsula vs Monash Blues
Banyule vs NOBS
Oakleigh vs Mazenod

Another good win for the Ashes who look to be making the most of their second chance in C grade. After a slow start against the pirates, where they were 5 goals down (kicking with a 5 goal breeze) they fought back well and really controlled the next three quarters. Should definitely give some sides problems with their quick forward line. Any other news from yesterday's games?

The Nodders beat Oakleigh on the weekend and should have won by a lot more. Coming together quite nicely down at Central with about 6 to come back in.
The slide will continue for the Krushers - unfortunately I predicted this last year when they made their coaching appointment.

Sounds like you are kicking them when they are on the ground. But its good to have at least some conversation within this thread.

Monash and Penninsula must be the big surprises to date.
Camberwell must be the biggest dissapointment.
Hoes will be dissapointed losing two games by less than two kicks cumulative.
PEGs and Marc will be comfortable with their positions at the moment.

Its early, but no team in the top 4 has been smashing other teams like in B Grade.

See ya on the weekend Nodder

Not really kicking them while they are down. I like the idea of new clubs breaking into the higher grades (great to see Beauy doing so well) and I thought Oakleigh were on the rise. I thought the appointment of someone whose on experience was an assistant coach at a Div4 EFL club was strange and would have an effect.
Coaching at any level these days is harder and harder with alot of clubs opting for the co-coach system. At the Nodders it is certainly unoffically this way with the assistant having as much to do with the team as the main man.
I don't know anything about the coach and he is proabably a good guy but they didn't look they had much system on the weekend. Personel can play a big part no doubt.
Unfortuantely, won't be there on Saturday Max but from all reports you guys are travelling quite nicely. After winning only 1 game the year before, it can take a young list a few games to get that winning attitude again. I hear the new coach is a ripper too.

Can you talk them down some other week than when we play them!!

Les out.

Early days Maxy. Many twists and turns ahead for all. I reckon a good guide is to check who's got strong ressies early on. Depth issues will need to be addressed sooner or later.

Agreed that any conversation in the thread would be better than nothing! Heaps of observers and no-one prepared to make a comment. Still, early days.
The Pirates sole objective is to stay in C Grade. Anything after that will be a bonus. I have no doubt they will.
I have doubts over NOBs, Oakleigh and Old Camberwell. IF OC can get their full team on the park, they will challenge for the four. If they don't then D section is staring them in the face.
I believe C Garde is going to be very even this year. Final four? Way too early to tell.

Didn't bother the last couple of weeks, but appreciative of the Table there Ris.

Solid win to the home side over the krushers at the Frearson yesterday. Exciting second quarter set up a 10 goal half time lead. Ordinary for much of the second half but a good win against an opponent who has handed the blue boys some canings in recent years. Good umpiring all day - well done lads.

Nice crowd in for a special occasion too.
