Back in the 70's when i used to be a little tacker, i loved the progress scores of other games on the big scoreboard. I am interested in setting up a text team where scores quarter by quarter are sent via a single person from each club, with the home club responsible to send the scores to each representative. PM me if you are interested, i have visions of a magnetic board outside the clubrooms with progressive scores from all games. "c" grade is a great comp i think this would add a bit, and after match all teams will know early results.

KB - not sure if you're aware, but I the VAFA have a system that sms' the results to 3 designated persons from a club for a small fee by around 5-5:30pm on a Saturday.
Hardly see it as necessary to follow other games during the - day unless it has bearing on a finals berth which wouldn't be until Rd.17 one would think. Even then, you'd rather not be waiting on an sms update to know your fate. However, I'm all for getting the full results after the games. I've got mates at Oakleigh & Ormond who I'll call after the game to get results. Bit hard to forge those friendships when you're out in the middle of nowhere though.

???
Your nickname is plate head??? Please explain, Micky. Who coined it?

Who knows HBP..? One of the boys likened the region above the neck to that of Bert Newton. Nicknames Baby Bert and the like have been bandied around, but Plate Face is one that seems to have stuck since late last year. Therefore I'm certain that the person responsible is from Hampton. One with limited education judging by their grammar & syntax.

Hey Hater you know the facts I am talking about or you must be more naive than what I thought. I district club in 20 in A and B with 2 extra in 2009 and another 2 in 2010 but thats of course if the "ammos" provide a competitive playing field.

I was at the hampton ajax game, both seniors and reserves. about goldys statement about hamptons reserves being overweight and thugs, watching the game and knowing all of the reserves blokes at hampton weight is something that they lack because most of them are first year out of under 19's and thugs what a load of crap! secondly hampton have won every game this year bar the ajax one without the help of vfl players. hampton would have won without the vfl players mainly because ajax were soft, as usual. ajax looked a very good unit with ball movement and speed around the ground, but when the hardball was there to be won hampton won it everytime. number 12 for ajax is a very good example of this looked great when he had the ball but was possibly the softest player i have ever seen. he allways pulled out of contests never chased, tackled and was never putting his body on the line for his team. the coach and leadership group should have a stern word with him, the way he played was a disgrace. dont wanna start a big argument, because im sure everyone has better things to talk about. just my thoughts from the sidelines

Now thats a little harsh Footy Guru. I know Hampton are on top of the ladder and travelling well, however you can't pump them up that much unless you actually play for them, or just secretly love them all! Most likely the latter....

jeeze you are taking a long punt there aren't you, at least you've given yourself a way out if it doesn't come to fruition... blame the ammo's!! I dont get what you mean by providing a level playing field jimmy?

and how do you know the old yo-yoing of grades isnt going to happen like ajax C-B-C possibly B again?

i think you've just been eating sour grapes... but all power to you jimmy! fight the good fight!

and i must be naive, i honestly have no idea in regards to these "Facts" you're talking about..

Hater, not sure of your club but it smells like 1 that I am familiar with that has had an "advantage".

Anyway signing off as we will get the job done due to hard work not silver spoons.

Just an opinion mate. He didnt look that good mate when i saw them play chargers and falcons. he got 22 and 12 hitouts being the tallest on the ground by a country mile!! 22 is great but he had more ineffecitve stats than effective which is no good.
In addition, my eye site is very good and wont be needing glasses nor will i need to be seeing anyone at OPSM. It is the hard facts that the dragons are all pretenders and selfish footballers. If you watch a team sport like the way the cats or even the falcons play you would learn something. Enjoy your dirt patch at ormond!
Maybe with the OPSM voucher you could have given me, you can use it and go look at the stats and watch a TAC game. All the best with your vision.

JAV, never was a truer statement made. Ossie looks after the privates first then looks after the possible draft players. Stats mean nothing, score board means nothing and winning is the lowest denominator at Dragons. There is no team spirit, no tradition and bonding there. If you drink coffee and can pick a winner at the TAB, you'll get a game.

Good call GM,if my kid ends up any good he will be going to Chargers which is much better run than Dragons.
Private boys get a much better go with Sandy,or if your dads well known. It's time AFL VIC did something about it.
And by the way Just A viewer, Gawn has only played 2 games and is still U/17.

Have been a keen follower of both the VAFA and VCFL for many years. Thought I would jot down a few players to keep an eye out for on Saturday from the VCFL.

Should be a great day and best of luck to all of those involved.

I am going to predict the VCFL by 8 goals- think they will have too much power up forward for the VAFA boys.

Number 7- Andrew Grant- Elmore- Captain of the side at only 24- a gun in every sense. Tough midfielder with courage to match. Wins a lot of the ball and uses it well.

2- Steve Schultz- Kalkee- vice captain of the side- has kicked a lot of goals over many years in the Horsham and District FL. Is only 178cm but has great hands and good pace- kicked close to 30 goals this year

20- Ryan Hayes- Elmore- 196cm and 100kg- big key position forward. Leaging goal kicker in the Heathcote and district FL this year with 44 goals in 8 games.

6- Paul Schouler- Blighty- co- vice- captain. 203cm and 113KG- at 31 years of age, is a veteran in the VCFL but is a very agile mover for his side- good luck trying to stop him in the ruck

11- Phillip Butsch- Laharum- plays in the same league as Steve Schultz- kicked over 30 goals already this year

43- Lee Cox- Hepburn- a gun full forward who has kicked 46 goals in 7 games this year. Last season kicked over 100 goals for the year.

Is the VCFL side selected from Minor League teams ? All of the above are playing in district leagues and not the Majors ie : GV, BFL, O&M etc.

That's cos Ossie is a tosser. Everyone has known that for years. As long as he's got pointy shoes and his scarf reaches the ground he's happy!

The VCFL side defeated the VAFA by 10+ goals today. The VCFL was awesome. The VAFA side tried hard, but were overwhelmed by a much better team on the day. Up in Brisbane, the VAFA lost to Queensland by 100 points. The C Section reps played OK, but really, what can you do, when you're on the wrong end of a 10 goal loss?

The real story of the game was the tragic ACL knee injury suffered by one of my favorite VAFA players Paul Greenham. Greeny kicked the Vics first 3 goals and was dominating until a VCFL player fell across his knee.
It is a very sad result for a ripping fellow who has always played the game fairly and skillfully. Greeny has been playing a high level of footy ever since he won the U19 Comp B & F in 1996. He went to Port Melbourne where he was drafted by Richmond and spent three years there, then went back to Port Melbourne then SKOB.
Over the years he has given great joy to many a SKOB supporter, playing a starring role in the clubs 2004 B Section Premiership. More recently, he famously helped stop SKOB from doing the double drop in 2006 returning mid year to help SKOB go from a 0-8 start to an 8-10 season.
For the last two years he has been coaching the Two Blues in D Section, and only last week kicked 9 goals 7 in three quarters.
He will be a shattered man but should know that all SKOB people feel for him and are 100% behind him as he goes through the physical and mental challenges ahead.
Cheers Greeny.
Brian.

There is a good reason that there isnt many district sides in A-B section. Its called money! You cant tell me some of those player especially in A-Grade play for free!! Especially in the areas that the clubs are based so close to competitions that do pay good money to play. The only way clubs can stay in the top 2 grades consitantly is to pay players! It would be an interesting competition if we all played by the same rules even you school boy tossers!

Congratulations Mooser!
You are the 1,000,000th person to have said something about VAFA clubs paying players!
Jas, please post one of your monthly random questions/statements like "what if the VAFA spray painted the lines a dirrerent colour for a weekend?" and get the topic shifted in another direction.
Many thanks

Can someone give Mooser a chisel so he can work at getting that chip off his shoulder. If you are so against 'Old Boys' teams then go and play in the Southern League, or the Northern League or Eastern or Western or....... (you get my drift.)

Unfortunately for you Mooser, the Old Boy teams are here to stay and it is up to district clubs to find the formula to get back into the top flight. Banging on about players getting paid will get you nowhere - strong juniour programs and an ability to drag you best back from the VFL when they don't get drafted is the key.

Yes spot on Guru, a strong junior program like Rovers, Beauy and Ormond for example is the way to go and then pay a few ex afl blokes when you get to B and A Grade to put the icing on the cake.

Yes I know scribe but ....its true some schools (Old Schoollboy team associates) have the ability to "assist". But besides all that all the good district clubs are really doing a great job fostering the relationship with the juniors and reaping the rewards as do some of the Old School boy clubs but I can see a day where OM's and MHSOB struggle and may continue to slip.
