Jase - ease up son.

The VAFA have no right to use TBO, and they pay dearly for its hiring for B/C section finals.

The oval at Albert Park is the Gary Smorgon Oval (Oval #9), which has been the home of the AJAX FC for as long as I can remember. They still play U19s and underage games there every weekend.

Correct .....Further more ...it is Ajax's call not the VAFA's as to where they play..It is an Ajax home game . If Albert Park is available then Ajax will use their own home ground, and they have only been forced off it because of the Grand Prix early in the season . :)Albert Park surface is far superior to most grounds currently being used...

If the surface is so good at Albert Park, then why would you persist playing on that heap of junk at EP ?
It appears to defy logic.

Ajax has an agreement for the full season with the VAFA at Elsternwick Park... and for the 1st part of the season could not play at Albert Park..lots of supporters want to go back to Albert Park, but really difficult for the 1st 4 -5 games of every season .
Ajax has lost it's "home ground "advantage [if there is such a thing.]..

there is always a home ground advantage. i think i speak for lots of our supporters when i talk about how i prefer ajax to play at albert park. its got good facilities and the ground is our own and not a shared one so we get the advantage.

Who cares where we play? Thsandy have another bye due to the thsplit round and guess what Ajax....? You're worst nightmare'ths back! It was Guy'ths thsuper thSaturday of thseven goals last time. Is anyone gonna man up on me this time around? Thsurely my big head isn't that hard to find on the park? If it is, listen out for the deepest voice in Bayside. I'm gonna bend you boyths over the rails again. Just the way you like it. How do you like them appleths mazal, goldy & yosi? No finals footy for the Jackabags in 2008!

You're all welcome back at the thSaint after the game where I'll be pouring shots of Jager from on top of the bar. Thsick!

An interesting situation should Ajax not make the finals this year having copped Hampton with their VFL listed players on both occasions. If they don't get over Hampton this week they're last month is pretty tough with a rejuvenated Melb High at the school and Oakleigh & Mazenod in the last 2. Could it happen to a better club..?

And what are your particular issues with Ajax?

Good question Ugly Dermie .... I cannot understand why this continual barrage against Ajax..... I guess winning games is the best way to shut all the critics up ....

Mazal the sensible question to be considered is why have AJAX had such an average season to date when they have one of the best lists in C Grade (probably second or third in overall talent)???

Good question... Ajax could not string together 2 wins for the 1st half of the season ..They did have lots of injuries [as other Clubs did] but they were to key players [Ritterman, Dukes, Israelsohn, ] and the team was just not good enough. Three wins on the trot now sees Ajax 2 games behind leaders Hampton Rovers, and several young players have shown a big improvement.
The feeling is that Ajax can do even better heading towards the business end of the season but they need to win the critical games coming up in the next few weeks to give themselves a chance to impress in the Finals. This is a very even competition with any one of 4 teams capable of going al the way.

Mazel, what has happened to your 2 guns from 2006. Sutton and Bloom? You seem to be an inconsistant without them. I can't find their names on the list. Sutton was as hard as they come and Bloom was a genuine star.

Groundsman ..... Sutton has retired hurt ...
Bloom is up in the air about his future.... two top players who would cause havoc if they returned...but Ajax has to do with what it has now, not what it had in 2006/7...

I think its great that Hampton Rovers have players at Sandy (playing the highest level they can) but will these players be available or qualified for the finals? When there skill and talent can make a difference. The drain on clubs by the VFL reserve competion is ridiculous. its fantastic if they are good enough to play VFL 1's (and a credit to there local junior club)but when they just make up the numbers in the 2's, when they could be helping there local clubs is false economy in the future development of the game.

100% agree with this, happens time and time again, blokes who are good footballers playing a half in the VFL reserve comp, could be playing very good football for their local senior side.

A handful played Ajax first time around and Sandringham played in the split round last week, so there will be players available this week. The Sandringham reserves have a bye in 2 weeks, so again there will be players available. I guess it's a matter of whether they've played that extra game throughout the course of the season as to whether they'll be available or qulaified for finals.

5 players from VFL last time ...is that a "handful"?

You're dead right Uncle Mick! There was only 4 of them and as you said they were quite a handful for the AJAX boys. Oh well, at least it gave them somehting to whinge about!
And for the record, i would consider 5 or less a handful.
