Would have thought Andrew Villani and Josh Richmond are a good start to answering that question. To be fair, they sprayed a few early, hardly what you'd call gimmes but only needed to kick a bit straighter and they would have gone into the half with a slight lead.
Ball would have gone inside forward 50 around once in the final stanza.

Easy, you play a lose guy back and have your players 10 mtrs in front of them, not on them, to take out their run. And then the lose tall swoops behind the three to smash it forward if its a long ball. more they get pushed out the lower the scoring ratio.

i'd hate to think roger mcintyre was the reason the result was the other way around the last time these two sides played while he was on state duties but he continually got double/triple teamed yesterday and withstood all challenges. if this was played on channel 10 last night they may have been inclined to give him two sony bravias. and the hitout column in the beauy stats van for him may have reached closed to four figures...

The better side won on the day...what can I say. High turned up and played tough, uncomprimising finals footy and the Fields didn't. McIntyre & White were tremendous. The Caulfield stars weren't.
Hopefully the good win in the magoos for Caulfield will brighten the week up. We'll know in 6 days.
As for the private school thing please see Xavs, Collegians, Scotch, De La and all the other A Grade sides for comment...
PS. I think you listen to SEN too much!
or even B-grade if they make it . On that thread Hampton were whingeing about St Kevins and Old Carey being too dirty and rough!

I told you boys that the Highs one on one football is too much for any C-Grade side.
The way to beat the High is to run them ragged. They rely on the opposition getting frustrated and resort playing that kick long to packs football. You have to be mentally tough to play the game on your terms not theirs. From the game yesterday, Caulfield did exactly that.
Thats why I think they will struggle next year as the B-Grade sides will run them around.
Good on them though. Good bunch of blokes as well.

Not even the appearance of the trailer could get the sharks up in either of the games yesterday in an eventful day out at Junction, firstly in the magoos where a brain fade in the third term saw one of the beauy boys land a fist to the back of one of the fields scones ala barry hall, luckily the puncher's about a tenth the size of hall and the punch was thrown sam newman style
The boy now has a lonely drive down the highway to HQ tuesday night. That little incident then led to a brave field supporter wandering over to the beauy huddle at three quarter time with a few words for the player in question much to the disgust of the surrounding supporters...
In the main game it was the van versus the Krush marquee, where the zingers were flying out left right and centre, skill errors left the sharks chasing tail and the krushers went back to the dome for some celebratory krushees and to plot for the fields next week, who you'd think will be up and about.
Also ive been a strong supporter of the canteens but may have to turn to the darkside with my tail between my legs and agree with the informer after the canteen staff had to do a credit check before i could purchase a little feed at the game yesterday....

Interesting set of results for the weekend... Beauy were really always set to be outclassed in this finals series and will probably enjoy the extra weeks of off-season to consider something like a 'Coquilles St Jacques' setup using fresh Port Phillip produce for next season...(expect pricing around $17 for a single serve)

i hear MHSOB are battered and bruised from the weekends encounter. Its a long season and a week off couldnt come at a better time.
If they're battered and bruised and have a week off, who cares??
Went to the preliminary final between Calfield Grammarians and Oakleigh at Sandringham today. Caulfield Grammarians kicked 5 behinds in the opening stanza which probably cost them the game, yet got to within 1 point halfway through the last quarter, before the Krushers scored 4 goals to win by 25 points, go into the grand final next week against MHSOB and promotion to B Section. Caulfield must now be wondering what went wrong in this finals series, having lost to the Unicorns and now Oakleigh after being the best team in the H&A season with a 16-1-1 record.

With a gun U18 unit, Oakleigh may be in for a fair stay in the top grades, however short term i think a few B Grade sides will be relieved it is Oakleigh and not Caulfield coming up. With the Sinclairs likely to return and a push for ex AFL talent Caulfield could have been a force to contend with in B -Grade next year. Sadly for them they will not be. Oakleigh will not be dis-similar to Ormond i feel. Their experience and big bodies will set them well for the start of the season, and give them an edge over some young school and uni sides like Bernies, Old Carey and Blacks. It will remain to be seen if those young sides will then catch them on the hop in the second half of the season. Anyway that is crystal ball-gazing. Good luck to MHSOB and Oakleigh this week. I might have to pop down for a look

Yes, Caulfield will be disappointed with that first quarter kicking, as they had done their kicking drills down the city end before the game and the ball was drifting right then. Lack of skill, nervous, or just inobservant, victory can be a fine line. Regardless, 16 goals 4 for the remainder of the game made up for it.
Oakleigh handed the ascendancy back in the 2nd quarter through undisciplined play, with metre penalties, free kicks at goal, and being pinged for overstepping the centre square repeatedly. Those making the mistakes were "cleansed" with their performances in the 2nd half.
The Stats van is truly locked up now, the $2.50 Mars Bars on ice until next season’s price rise however there is the rather potent question of how are Oakleigh going to make a game of it against M(cIntyre)HSOB? Perhaps a complimentary Grand Final afternoon in the "trailer" could be arranged for any armchair coaches who care to dissect the SOB?
Caulfield just weren't good enough when it mattered. The Krushers & Unicorns deserve their promotion. Caulfield's performance was much better than against the High, so based on that I would suggest that Oakleigh go in with marginal favouratism for the Grand Final. I would also suggest that with their depth and juniors that they will do better in B Grade as well. There is a lot of focus on Bromley & Rutter but there is plenty of talent throughout the rest of the club.
Wouldn't believe everything you hear about the Sinclairs or any ex-AFL Talent. Maybe it'll happen, maybe it won't, the real improvement will come from within. Lawrence made some good inroads but there is still plenty of room to improve!

PS. Lesson from yesterday, don't mess with Bombay
Oakleigh to win by 3-5 goals on Saturday in the C Section Grand Final. MHSOB wouldn't have liked what they saw in last week's preliminary final. I noticed the MHSOB reps looking a little bit on edge when the final siren sounded last week. But as Jonathan Horn said on his VAFA website column,'stranger things have happened in September.'
