They may have taken a couple of steps backwards in the last 18 months, but they've blooded plenty of kids and they've got depth right through to their 19s and Clubbies. Hardly, a basket case and will no doubt find their feet and be back in the hunt sooner than most care to know.

Thanks Mick all true. The thing is no matter at what level you play there will always be players that don't like the coach, its human nature.

Absolute rubbish. Either you have been legitimately misinformed or are deliberately muck raking. De La occasionally field an U17 team but it is player driven not club driven. There is no intention to field juniors as it is seen as biting the hand of our main feeder clubs (St Peters, Caulfield, M’beena, E Malvern, Ashburton etc). The club has enough on its plate with 4 seniors sides and 2 under 19s and very happy with the way things are at the moment.

Where is the future of the senior club going to come from when the U17's fold? Might even struggle to get a 19's side up next year if they arent careful. Struggling big time through the last 12 months having been relegated from B grade and then coming reasonably close to being relegated from C grade.

Sorry, pardon my ignorance but when did winning 3 times as many matches as the team in 9th equate to being reasonably close to getting relegated?

No doubt Ormond are going through a transition but they managed to move from D in 2005 to B in 2009 and are in my view an honest Premier C unit this year with great scope for improvement.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

That narrows it down and I reckon I know who it might be! Funny as in years past I have heard him say the same thing, even when he knows for a fact it is not happening. Maybe he is trying to pump up the MSJFL. If all the stars aligned they might run an U16 or 17 team but never any intention of having a full blown junior set up and no plans do so next season. Too much hard work, not enough grounds, too many junior clubs already in the area but mainly because they don’t want to get their existing juniors feeder clubs off side.

Firstly, if as claimed players are already talking to other clubs outside of Ormond then I would suggest that they would be asked to leave because no tail can wag the dog. Ormond have a large junior programme so I think long term they will be fine, they are going through a rebuilding period, as all clubs whether it be Collegians a few years ago, Old Essendon this year or Parkdale as well, they have stayed in C and thats all that matters.
Its funny how the journo's were last week questioning Ross Lyon for a draw and a loss but praising him for his remarkable gameplan after the weekend. If anyone thinks you dont need good cattle to win games at any level then you are sadly mistaken.
Look at Scribes coach, there were rumblings at his club a few weeks ago re the coach, but now a few are back and they are winning games.

As far as DeLa goes, so what? The school may want to have a constant game, although they play in the weak ACC, I personally dont see them adding any more to another comp, a waste of time and would severely weeken the De La lads local teams they play for on the weekend, which wouldn't be good politics.

We here at headquarters are none to happy with the MSJFL changing their name, we have put a lot of resources into the league and feel it's a desperate attempt to keep a dying competition alive.

We’re all drifting off topic a bit but here’s my take. The MSJFL has been in bed with the SFL for awhile now. There was a time when we got the majority flow-on of junior umpires. They now go to the SFL. The Southern Football League Umpires registrar is the MJSFL umpires coach.

Don’t kid yourself the SFL is a diminishing competition, it is doing okay with the prospect of Bentleigh returning to the fold and an MPNFL club also contemplating a move. The manner in which the MSJFL umpires have thumbed their nose at the Ammos after years of assistance is a disgrace.

Totally agree (except for the bit about there ever being rumblings about the Roys coach . Given we came up from D1, and 4th in D1 after home and away, patience was required and now the results have been there for all to see in the past 6 weeks, mainly due to our existing young cattle becoming more confident in their ability at senior level.

I don't know what Ormond's realistic expectations for the season were, given the change of coach and retirement of numerous players. Making finals may have been the aim, but when a club is relegated nowadays it seems they don't often immediately jump back up.

To call them a shambles of a club is a bit rich if you ask me.

80 - 90% of the list have played under Michael Oaten 2004 – 2009 as U/19’s. If they weren’t happy with the appointment, they would have left after the announcement, why wait until the end of this year as you state? As far as the U/17’s go, 6 of the best are Wesley boys & were no longer able to commit to weekend football as dictated by the school.This year’s U/16’s face a similar predicament in 2011 as 8 of the best are Brighton boys. What would you like us to do, ban all De La,Wesley, Brighton, St Bedes & Caulfield boys from playing junior footy at Ormond incase they leave after completing years 11 – 12? There was talk of a massive defection to other cubs last year, only 2 left, 32yo Bryce & 29yo Leigh Deledio, hardly the future of Ormond. Hoggo went home to Wang to be with his girlfriend. The rest retired, went o/s or had major surgery, hardly a mass defection (although Schwabby leaving was felt by all), but please correct me if I’m mistaken. Yeah, we’re doing it tough, but everybody hurts sometime (I feel a song coming on).

I must apologise for my ignorance. I thought that the u17's folded because a majority didnt like the coach. In disbelief about Schwabby though, he was the cult figure down there.
