I see Harry Harisiou (how many clubs has Harry coached) has been appointed Bulleen Temp 2010 senior coach. So maybe the rumour that big Dave Matthews is set to return to Caulfield Grammarians as Footy Director has some weight.

Harry coached BT in B grade from 1991-1994 and has done an unbelievable job with our under 19's for the past 7 years. He also coached Banyule and St Leos. A very very good appointment for us. Hope to be back on this board in 2011.

Dave has a few good opportunities. Parkdale is one. I think he is still keen to coach - but closer to home.

I hope the club does well, ugly. I’m not amongst the few on this board who derive delight in kicking district clubs. It’s been too long since a district club has been a force in the top echelon of the comp.

Harry has been a magnificent servant of your club and amateur footy in general. But he’s been around the coaching seen for yonks with more an adequate than outstanding record. And it’s been awhile since he has had a senior role. As I said, I hope it proves a success.

I know the journey out to BT was a factor in big Dave not continuing out your way, but I also thought he wanted a less onerous involvement than coaching. It will be interesting to see what happens. He’d be a great pick-up for Caulfield as Football Director, that’s for sure. Don’t be surprised if the Sinclair boys return to the fold next year either. That will make them a very formidable unit.

Can someone tell me what the equivalent role of a Football Director is in a "District" Club?

Mazenod have signed two ex AFL players (confirmed) and on the verge of signing three from the VFL (1 confirmed and two most likely).
Also, 1 from EFL Div 1 Team of the Year.
Watch this space, plenty happening there....

Gee - that's nice.
Please humour me - what have these players actually signed?

1. A contract to be lodged with the VAFA? (which doesn't exist)
2. A contract to play for Mazenod in 2010? (which, given it won't be for $$$, has no consideration and can easily be rescinded in the 6 months between October 2009 and April 2010)
3. a serviette from the Wheelers' Hill Hotel with terms and conditions scribbled on it after a few too many Carlton Draughts.

If I had a dollar for every ex-AFL or VFL player who 'signed' to play Ammos in October and then shot through when the cashed up suburban clubs came sniffing around, I'd be able to bankroll the Vermont Football Club's 2010 player payments.

Seriously, don't bother with this rubbish until someone has actually signed a VAFA registration form which is lodged with the VAFA for in/around February 2010, and they actually pull the boots on in March 2010. Only then should you be getting excited.

Response of the month. Never heard some much drivel in my life.

Read the ammo website at the beginning of the year with Sholly bragging about all the big recruits playing. Many signed, most didn't play, and if they did most played a handful of games. Just OCamberwell.

Purely guessing, but I figured it might be a role along the lines of that carried out very effectively by
‘Gus’ Parker
at De La last year. But you guys are right, who knows, and why think progressively anyway.;)

I reckon Scribe hit the nail on the head. Just as a matter of passing interest though, did you note how many former AFL players were in the four A & B Grand Final teams. Maybe there’s a lesson there.;)

Xavs 2 Ball, Fleming
De La 0
OM’s 3 Greene, Gardiner, S.Beaumont
Trinity 0

Sorry but I’m also a bit miffed as to what the lesson is here. Are you saying there are not many or too many?

i'm with you ROOSTER, not sure what his point was there.

If, as he says, Sausage does the maths, then from 88 players only 5% of them played AFL which doesn't seem that many.

Seems strange.
