Caulfield
Rupo
Beauy
Mazenod
Oggs
Ajax
Parkdale
Ormond
Fitzroy
Camberwell

Well we have started early this year.

Caulfield & Beaumaris relied on their younger brigades last year and both faltered in the finals (in particular Caulfield). They will both be stronger and better for the expereince, so they will be tough to budge. Mazenod were very unlucky with injuries and play their ground very well. For me these 3 are standouts. Rupertswood to make up the 4, they are on the way up and have a big home ground advantage.

OG's and Fitzroy to lead the relegation charge. OG's have an aging list, while Fitzroy may find the jump tough.

It will be interesting to see how Ormond go having EE Gun out for the season (not having a home ground seems to stuff with a club's chemistry, just ask the Sharks).

Parkdale will be mid table at least.

Ajax and Camberwell will depend on who turns up.

Bedford, the Council has several notices on the temporary fencing around the oval saying the ground will not be returned to use until October 2010. The contractors have told a mate of mine this is the biggest job of this type they've undertaken with state of the art watering systems etc. I'd like to think you're right about an earlier return but I wouldn't hold my breath and I understand the club is resigned to not playing there in 2010.

My tip is that Ormond will be back on the ground in June, grass to be layed in the next couple of weeks. It would have been ready earlier only for the sub standard cricket club wanting to play 3 rounds there, they are a basket case that mob. Ormond will play at Caulfield till the ground is ready

Murrumbeena I heard.

Seen a few new blokes down at Fitzroy pre Christmas that look pretty good. Hopefully we can keep them around, fitting them into last years squad and be competitive in 2010.

In my humble opinion not being able to play at the Gunn will hurt ormond just like it did beauy last year, having to be on the road for 18 weeks makes life quite difficult, and theres not much support when your playing at a different ground every second week.

In other news, Mobby will Slug be around next year? if so i might need to put the helmet in the kit as he tends to let the fists out every time he strides out onto the ground

Heard premiership hero and star foward Chris Ligris was returning for the Roys in 2010. Can anyone confirm this?

I heard Fitzroy have a new wheelchair sponsor for Chris Ligris and their Skip **** knuckle Mc Knuckle. Will not win a game according to those in the know. Just ask their x coach!

Ajax have 2000 on the track for cricket, about 10 for footy. You do the math.

what's the set-up with training during the season, bedford. are you guys sharing with caulfield grammarians (maybe mondays and wednesdays) or are there other plans?

Dog walkers in Glen Eira get better treatment than sports people

I can totally empathise with the Monders' frustration, having had to suffer through similar summers of pre-season discontent in recent years.

If I recall correctly, Ormond had to spend almost all of the 2007 and 2008 preseasons running sessions at local gyms and snatching spare grassland around Elwood beach? To some extent that can be managed in Jan/Feb, but as we get closer to the season proper, one hopes the council will grant access to a proper ground with decent lighting for proper training drills.

Fortunately for the Roys, word is the City of Yarra's attitude towards our preparation will be far more generous this year (largely thanks to far stronger internal Council contacts).

Fingers crossed.

Why's that Blade ? Have the CoY finally acknowledged that football is an actual pastime enjoyed and played by hundreds of people in their municipality on a weekly basis ?

Perhaps they also acknowledge that with FFC in the mainstream news so much of late that it would be a bit embarrassing for anyone visiting the club not to actually find the team at Brunswick Street (like 2009, 2008, 2007 ...etc)

I dunno who Slug is, sorry. Haven't been able to see a match since 2006.

It's interesting in a world where health costs are going through the roof with obesity a major cause that local councils are so uncooperative when it comes to encouraging people who like to engage in activities to keep them healthy.

Old guys who want to play masters footy are kicked off a ground that in one way or another has been part of the clubs history for the past 100 years. Thanks to City of Moreland.

Trying to find a replacement ground is a minefield. Have a look at the Melbourne City Council's sport and recreation area. It talks about making applications for grounds to play on and in the next paragraph proudly announces that none of the new applicants were approved in 2009. The drought gets the blame but have a look at Princes Park. All that space handed over to people who like to let their dogs off the leash and areas kept in good condition for people to park their cars.

Totally empathise with the teams frustrated by local councils.

I take offence at the posting criticizing the Melbourne City Council. The grounds add to the value of the area, and it is not a place where a bunch of uncouth, unspohisticated neanderthals run around and destroy the beautiful grounds. There is nothing nicer than taking my poodles for a walk and just enjoying the environment meeting other friends and discussing the arts, antique shops, and ofcourse global climate change. If most of you stopped eating meat and became vegans then you would not be obese and you would not have to run around damaging public facilities.I just wish the council would pay more attention to the toilets, as they are hard to negotiate at night when one gets an urge to visit.

haha i enjoyed that.

The most frustrating thing for me is being told we can't use our ground, turning up for a road run and finding people playing soccer or other sports on it. It seems that as long your not an organised sporting club, you can tear up the ground as much as you'd like.
