Much better hit-out for the Roys at Sth Warrnambool, with 8 players added from last week's skeleton team, and about 6-7 still to play before the season proper.

Went down by 10 points to the home side despite the ball remaining in our half of the ground for almost the entire last quarter, when the rain started to play havoc. No injuries to report either, which is handy.

Word is the Hampden League is about B/C grade standard and Sth Warrnambool are expecting to be a goodish side this season.

Caulfield lost to Old Carey by 7 points.

Carey didn't look brilliant and don't seem to have too much depth (for a B Grade side), their Unders and Magoos didn't have anyone screaming out to play seniors.

Caulfield would want to improve, albeit it was their first hit out. Their practice match against Ormond will be interesting.

why isnt there any talk about the sharkies? have they been written off?
played old gayilbury on sunday with a very young side in due to a few retirements over the break. they lost 12 goals to 9, a very couragous effort, were stricken down to 18 men by 3 quarter time. fair to say brett voss was the difference with 8 goals (kicked all their 4 goals in the first half then kicked 4 in the last).
pour it on sharks, its feeding time.

The new season is almost here and I'm looking forward to the early games to get a feel for who's likely and who's not. Given the withdrawl of the welcome mat at Rupo I'll probably get out and watch a few games at other venues. Rupo appear to be travelling well with a couple of practice match wins ans should be good enough to stay in C grade. I'm hoping Fitzroy can achieve the same result as I was impressed with its efforts in last years final series.

I look forward to KBs comments as he really is the Henry Kissinger of VAFA posting. Scribe is always good value and I've already felt and survived the big left hook he delivered a couple of months ago. Lemms is a positive sort of guy and I like that.

Dent? Has a tendency for talking before thinking and can be a bit cruel. You didn't need to tick off that guy from NOBs with the relegation putdown. You may have an opinion on two matters. How does reducing Rupo from four teams to three indicate an improved circumstance? I notice a lot of Rupo guys [played from juniors to seniors] have voted with their feet and left. A bump in the road?

Thanks Robbo (alias Dr Phil) Will take your advice and think this through and try to be nice ( It's Easter after all ) In the meantime feel free to wander down to the club and ask. The welcome mat has not been taken up unless you have done it yourself. There are plenty down there who will be prepared to give you the answers you seek. Think you may have taken a few massive leaps of faith to link the two issues.

does anybody know if fitzroy are playing any practice matches this weekend

Yep - out at Central Reserve Springvale Road, Glen Waverley this Saturday against Mazenod.

Not sure of the times but presume 9.30 U19s, 12 noon reserves, 2pm seniors.

i would like to wish jack coleman all the best this weekend. he will be lining up for the Beaumaris R.S.L alongside other notable beaumaris legends teaser, collo and the fist. strongy and wolfgang will be running drinks all night and oranges and nibblies covered by sue and amy. it just so happens to be jacks 21st so we are hoping the half time speech will encourage jack to play well, and keep him from being dropped to the canadian clubbies

Bedford or Gunn.

Any reason why the Caulfield v Monder praccy isn't @ Caulfields home ground?
Not 100% sure? My guess would be that the Glen Eira council aren't letting them use the ground until the season starts. Would not surprise me at all.
