As John Laws said, "You know what I mean"....

Not sure I do Riss. The Monders are yet to play a game there and the Vultures are only a hop-step-n-jump down the highway. Good choice though as I reckon the youth and pace of the brown-n-blues will be enough to get 'em across the line.

Ormond will be too good for Parkdale who haven't started well. They are normally pretty good at home, and a wack in Rd 1 looks ominous.
Mazenod to at home win against a vastly improved Old Geelong. Will be close for a while, but the Nodders are better at Central Reserve.
Caulfield will just win in what should be match of the round. Don't know much about Ruppo, but reckon we will all know a bit more after this weekend.
Beaumaris will roll Camberwell at Gordon Barnard. The Wellers aren't that bad, but they are not the same quality as the Sharks.
AJAX will betoo quick and too good for Fitzroy. I reckon the Jackas might be the sleepr in the field at this stage.

if i can join the tips that would be good otp. i have a history of being a shocker, but in the spirit of the thread i will have a go!!!

Mazenod 12pts
Ormond 41pts
Beaumaris 9pts
Rupppppo 1.25 pts
Ajax 27pts.

good luck to all, Ruppo has its inaugural 3 match game beginning with the u 18,s at 9:30, KB will be completely in paradise. We will enter Saturday (senior wise) with a few forced changes that IMO will test us, however there is a good feel around the club that has been refreshingly positive with a feeling of solidarity after a good first up win. The reserves will be stronger this week, i suppose how good the opposition is is something we will find out Saturday.

First up, Caulfields reserves are the best side we have played against as a club, they were most impressive.
Now to the senior game, Ruppppo were level at the 18min mark of the last quarter , the weather changed dropped 10 degrees it started to rain and a wind was clearly favoring the end Caulfield were kicking to. They preceded to kick 4 unanswered goals against the flow. We were seriously competitive, they were very classy and an extremely impressive unit, but at no stage did i think we could not win this game. The luck was definitely with the Caulfield team in more ways than just the scoreboard. We have come away from the game confident we can be competitive as the season moves forward.

Kingy - Can i suggest visiting the school of all wind and rain excuses come out looking pretty pathetic. Its not the best course one can ever do, but does help making you not look like a tosser.

The wind and rain was merely co-incidence, not an excuse, over the day they finished better than we did as we had numerous chances that were not converted. IMO they had luck on there side more than we did, ( you can have a bit of luck in footy) and 4 goals was not a true reflection of the game. They won, but as i said we come away confident we can push a side that is regarded as the benchmark for 2010.

KB,

I've checked with a reliable source [my wife] who described it as a cross wind. At best a sou-south wester. The temperature dropped dramatically and I can confirm this from the comfort of my bedroom.

Sounds like a good performance but home ground advantage has meant a lot to Rupo over the years. A bit of experience on the sidelines
[i think] which is not what you want so early in the season.

The reserves side looks a shadow compared to past years and it doesn't surprise me that they copped a hiding. Depth is definitely a concern.

A good workmanlike effort by the young Monders yesterday in winning well after a scrappy evenly fought affair for most of the day. Big Dave was none-too-happy. Maybe it's just as well the Amateur Footballer still has Steve Kennedy as the Vultures coach.

Big test for the youngsters against the flag favs next week.
