Fitzroy 12.11.83 defeated a gallant Parkdale 12.8.80.

Frankly, you never write off the Vultures, and they may still recover, but I would have to say had we dropped this one it would almost have been curtains for the season.

With 3 KPPs missing in Dullard, Borland and Shaugnessy, this was a very handy one to hang onto.

Sheez what happened in that last term ...

Full Time at the BSO: Fitzroy 12.11.83 def Parkdale 12.8.80. Roys kicked 2 goals 6 in last quarter, while the Vultures piled on 5 goals straight, and fell short by half another one.

Roys on the board with their first win for 2010!!!

Captain Jimmy O'Reilly slotted the winning goal with less than 2 minutes left after Parkdale hit the lead for the first time since early in the 2nd term. Nail biting stuff indeed

The Roys persist with infuriating handball / over-possession for little gain. The Vultures kicked goals everytime they went direct through the corridor by foot. Thankfully we won most of the ground level contested footy, and had more than enough opportunities to win the game.

Ruppo had a miiror image game of last week, where we were completely outplayed in the first half, a scoreline of 7.7 to 3.2 was testimony to a dominant Mazenod. I think in the third stanza we kicked 8 unanswered goals from nowhere, "against the flow" and from then we held our own to record a great win. Apologies from KB as my lift had to fly so was unable to enjoy the hospitality of the Mazenodians, they are a great club IMO. Their first half was very impressive, but were unable to sustain the intensity for the whole 100 minutes. Go Ruppppppo!!!!

What happened MM? I'm told the Monders were the better side for three quarters but fell in a heap in the last.

We were up by as much as 5 goals early in the 3rd qtr, but OC kept at it & hit the front with 10 mins to go.

Very ordinary display yet again, if we could play 4 qtrs or even 3 for that matter we would be a much better side. To much handball & not enough kicking.

Would want to beat Fitzroy this week to keep our season going.

sounds like you guys are having exactly the same problem as Fitzroy ... overhandballing and 3&1/2 quarter games ...

The Monders do play a running game which worked well on the open spaces of Elsternwick Park for three quarters but they ran out of puff come the final quarter - so I was told. If my memory serves me correctly you once lived somewhere near Gunn Reserve Mobbs. Am I near the mark?
