Yep sortah, actually just down the street from the old St Kevins-Ormond ground (Koornang Park) in Carnegie.

As I need a lot of health supplements and specialised foodstuffs for the sick missus, regularly travelled to the Gluten-Free store in Ormond ... only got to Gunn once to see a quarter of a Carey v Ormond match. Nice ground :)

Know the feeling, apparently those footy-crazy sports addicts of the City of Yarra have chosen the middle of the footy season to refloorboard the stand at Brunswick Street!

The entire City of Glen Eira council got dissolved a number of years back, didn't it? The more things change ...

Nice ground if we can get back on it. If Glen Eira had of started the work after the cricket season the ground would have been ready weeks ago. At the moment its very green and lush, fingers crossed we can get back on soon.
EE Gunn is looking superb although i cant understand why it took the council so long to start resurfacing. The council have also ruined the atmosphere at the ground by building some fitness station where the cars used to park up against the fence:thumbsdown:

Won't happen this footy year - unfortunately. It'll be available for the cricket season. Around October.

The little fitness station is a great addition to a piece of unused park. It's put to good use too.:thumbsu:

The cricket club wanted to play there for a month, which put things back to November, then a blocked drain under the ground put it back further, then the grass which was supposed to be laid in November was put down in late January. Still it should be ready to play on in about 4 to 5 weeks but GECC are saying its out for the rest of the season and the cricket club don't want footy on it.

There were unexpected delays, that's true. However, this is not just a normal resurfacing. It was a $650k major project and the first of its type undertaken by Glen Eira. I'm as big a critic of the Council as most but so far as this project goes the Council have said from the get-go the ground won't be in use for competitive sport until October. Nothing has changed.

I have been a huge critic of the Glen Eira Council in the past, but hats off to them as they have done a marvellous job with a number of ovals in the Glen Eira area. There is one councillor in particular Cr Jim Magee who has been pushing the agenda to get as many ovals resurfaced. You only have to check out Bentleigh's ground.Excellent surface and electronic scoreboard. The following grounds have all been resurfaced in the past few years. Princes Park,Murrumbeena,Bentleigh,Mackie Reserve,
Gunn Reserve,West Bentleigh,Centenary Park & King George Reserve have all benefited from our hard earned dollars. At least they have done something with our money unlike other councils which have neglected their grounds.:thumbsu:

Murrumbeena had a bigger renovation and were back on their ground in June last year.

Nowhere near as big, bedford. This is a major reconstruction and cost triple what they spent at Murrumbeena. The Council wants to make certain the grass is properly settled before it is used for active sport. Imagine the outcry from residents if a $650k project failed due to permitting premature use. They've tried many times to get the surface of Gunn right let's hope they've got it right this time.

Magee was only elected at the last ballot. The ground resurfacing program was well underway before he had 'Councillor' before his name. Agree the council has done a good job but many municipalities are resurfacing their sports grounds with drought tolerant grass.

Interesting stuff! I didn't even know there was a ground in West Bentleigh.

I'd love to see the Coatesville ground get back into action :D Horny little wench it is.

Yeah I guess some of us who are just footyphobes and have no interest in cricket (like me) will always be annoyed when ground resto's are done during footy season. In reality someone usually has to lose out.

At least it seems GECC actually has a councillor (or more) that are behind supporting footy venues ... for footy.

I have a personal beef with GECC for entirely unrelated reasons, so if I exclude that, then yes it seems the council are an exception to the rule with their support of local footy.

Those are some major draw backs but looks like the council has done an outstanding job on the ground. Will be good once monds move back to their home base;)

After missing last week, this week we will see:

Parkdale v Old Geelong - The Vultures have been close the last 2 weeks, they are due for a win.
Caulfield v Mazenod - The Fields will continue on against a misfiring Mazenod. Can't help but wonder what is going on at Central Reserve? Is everyone on the same page?
Old Camberwell v Ajax - The Wellers are finding some form and I think they may have the Jackas measure at Gordon Barnard. The Ajax have faltered over the oast few weeks.
Rupertswood v Beaumaris - The Sharks are also starting to look better and will be too good for Ruppo. So far they have got closer than many to Caulfield.
Ormond v Fitzroy - The Monders should win this easily. They are travelling much better than the Roy boys.

Well done to Perkins and Carboni being named in the VAFA Senior Squad!

Similarly to the C Grade boys named in the U21 Squad: Willis (Ormond), O'Sullivan (Caulfield), Phillips (Ruppertswood), Duke (Old Camberwell), Inglis (Mazenod), Fayman (AJAX) & Petering (Beaumaris)!

Beena was a bigger job, the reason Gunn is costing more is because of the drip irrigation system which hasn't worked at other grounds, lets hope it does here.

Sorry 'bedford' but it wasn't. I don't have the time to find it but I can recall the project description and cost in council's forward estimates for Murrumbeena was nowhere near the size and scope of Gunn. However, you are correct in saying a major difference between the two projects is the advanced watering system installed at Gunn.

Look forward to us having a top class surface to play on in 2011 - fingers crossed.

All hail the "can two clubs both be each others' bitches at the same time" Cup! :D

You haven't offered a tip Mobbs. Very important game as (at this point) both clubs are regrettably candidates for a drop at years end.

I might make an effort to see some of the early game. Maybe get behind the goals and heckle number 8.:p He is your F.F isn't he?

Haha I dunno what number whoever wears, its too far to travel to matches from Brissy. Hold on, a mate sent me some programs ... HAHAHAHA yeah that's him! Heckle him for me, too!

I didn't offer tips yet as its well-known that most clubs alter their lineups accordingly based on my selections.

That old hack couldn't even get a spot at FF when he was coaching (and picking) the side. Bound to be playing loose man in defence and trying to get cheap uncontested possessions.

Wouldn't bother wasting your breath on him.
