Scribe, is it true that Ronchi, Cahill, Magamez, Dullard, Grossman, Charman, OReilly, Kelleher, Green, Louis-Gleeson are all gone? If so, it could mean a long year for the Reds!

Interesting to note your absence on this forum flanker since you were asked a few questions!

Very interesting!

With so many changes to the list (playing and coaching), it's difficult to say how the Fitzroy Reds will perform for Season 2007.

However, off-field, things seem to be on the improve, with a few thousand dollars raised last week when the new Reds President hosted the Club's inaugural cockfighting event.

$250 of it was mine - I knew I should never have bet on the chicken called 'Honeymustard'.

You just don't get that sort of entertainment at the 'old boy' establishment clubs - a lot of 'new money' to be found at the cockfights.

So is Le Scribe leaving his post as C-Section scribe to focus on his duties at Uni Reds? Please say oui...

If so, who is the likely replacement?

My vote - anyone but the man with the blandest pen in Amateur Football, T.Brain.

Perhaps Alphonse can do it by correspondence?

Well scribe didnt see too many games live last year...Alphose could do just as well if not better

That's a fair exodus of talent there my friend despite having massive numbers. Retirements of Drury and Clark that I heard on the grapevine and it will be a massively new look Fitzroy Reds in 2007. Atherton back?

Re: Drury and Clark I believe they retired mid-season last year.

Re: Atherton, dunno, hope so though 'cause I'm big wraps for him.

Don't despair mob, Atho is back and raring to go.

Drury( new vice-president) and Clarke did indeed retire mid season 2006, so can hardly be counted as losses.

Flanker and Scribe certainly have the boys fit and firing and the club is well equipped for a serious tilt this year.

The only danger is the Friars!

how can a side in the reds have only the one danger in winning this years C grade cup.

surley ormond or parkdale have the right to being the teams to beat, they were ( on ladder positions the third and fourth best teams ) and maybe the friars if you wan't to believe all the hype.

Reds didn't even play finals, i find it very hard to believe that they will be so much better then they were last year, finals maybe flag holders no.

The Reds are coming off a 20-goal thumping of the Tongan national side (which the Tongans didn't seem to take too well - what with all the burning and looting that followed).

Insofar as having the boys fit and firing is concerned, well the only firing done has been that of the Club Doctor. Who is he to tell us a cholesterol count of 320 is dangerous.

That said, there is little doubt the Reds will kick arse in C-Grade in 2007. Have you seen some of the teams lined up for this thing? Whitefriars? It's not a football team, it's a baking flour - and we're going to kick it's arse!

but battles and ratcliffe wont be

Interesting to see that Battle, Ratcliffe and possibly Howgate may be leaving Old Carey. These three are rately very highly at OC and i'd imagine they'll try and do everything possible to hold on to them. However not sure if OG will be happy to see this happen.

I'm looking forward to watching the GF re-match of OC and Rupo.

Collins still leading the pack for Rupo?

Atherton big show to play at St.Bedes. Has old school mates there and travel time drastically reduced.

Please tell me this guy is not associated with the Reds!
Give up whilst you are ahead Gary.

Not even close to funny!

Bob I would like to know what hype surrounds the Friars from what I have read it is all about Reds and the 2 OC's.

I have followed Friars and seen them drop 2 grades in 3 years so not sure about their hype.

I think that Mazenod, Ormond and Parkdale will all be very competitive this year. I can only gauge that the teams shooting off their mouth are doing the talking befor they've done the walking!

Gus

I hope that you are involved with Reds bacause if you are and this is the arragont attitude you take then you'll be in for one hell of a shock in round one! While they haven't won many games of late the Friars have a red hot crack.

If not then either declare your hand or crawl back into the hole in which you reside!

Oh hell yeah I cant wait for rd1, kick off the season at Friar Park with a mauling of the Reds and I can finally choose to go there more often this year and join in the umpire abuse (Although I never copped any out there :p)
