Hey red men - I noticed Kane M has signed with our local enemy (Templestowe in EFL). What is his reasoning for leaving FR? I reckon he has the ability to play a higher level than div 3?

Cheers

As previously reported...

"As for Magmahez (sic), we couldn't afford to keep him in 'bling' and Kappa tracksuit pants, so we traded him for a forward wearing a smart pair of tailored slacks."

First of all I must apologies for my spelling and grammar in my virgin post. The work experience kid set this up for me and I attempted to dictate my message to him with little success...

Looks like the old carey boys are staying quiet, re my question regarding the captain to be this year.
I have a somewhat connection to Rupo hence have seen allot of Old carey and other teams in C-section through the U19 and D1 last year. As well as a wide network of friends through the other clubs that keep me informed.
. I think our captain (Collins) was the best going around in D1 last year, and hopefully he will lead from the front again..
Looking forward to the year, guess you never know until the first ball is bounced and it is time for all to walk the talk.
From talking to people and my knowledge here is my top 4 for the record as it appears this is what to do.
in no order

Rupo: think the have a young group maturing, learnt alot last year and can only go forward
Reds; alot of talk, but think they will be able to walk it. New coach should get there new list working well as a team
Old carey; Big and strong, lost a few gained a few, young and, depending on injuries should be a challenge to the title
Friars; Alot to prove, good list, a lot of good running players, may suit hard dry conditions

Interesting times at the Reds with Vinnie "captain couragous" Cahill not going around. He has been a fantastic leader for the Reds.
Flanker faced with a tough decision but should be Tim Davis for mine ahead of Rockstar. Tim clearly the best player.

Perhaps Frase can comment.

With Rawlins, Davis and Cahill (what the?) all training regularly, I think there are 3 good options for the captaincy there already. Haven't spoken to Vinnie about what he's doing / where he's going, but the fact that he's coming to train (off-site mind you) is a good sign.

Not my call anyhow, as it's up to Mausy and possibly Harro to make that appointment. Suffice to say, there's enough candidates working hard to ensure whomever is chosen will have earnt it through hard work.

Scribe, is it true that Ronchi, Cahill, Magamez, Dullard, Grossman, Charman, OReilly, Kelleher, Green, Louis-Gleeson are all gone? If so, it could mean a long year for the Reds!

Frase,

Read Flankers comments from a few weeks ago. Perhaps you should ask him why he has posed the question as to Vinnie leaving?

I think you will find he is going overseas.

Davis the standout captain.

Flanker has been quite of late?

If I can guarantee you one thing every year. Reds have the most spruikers on bigfooty. And if you listen to them they have the premiership in the bag but come the real season their heart packs it in, the rain comes and handbags come out. If Rupo couldn't get within 10 goals of Old Carey last year don't expect to come to C Grade and finish in the finals. You would want to have a solid team to stop the Loats machine at Balwyn, cause noone could last year (can't wait for the inbred Campberwell suppoorters to fall out of the trees and kiss Loats arse again). Finally the GuruJoffa tells you one thing each season and don't forget it. Never ever write of the THE VULTURE.

Final four no particular order

Friars
Vultures
Loats team
maybe Carey

bye bye

Well, we will see now won't we. Yes, there are a fair amount of Reds supporters on here, but there is an extreeme air of confidence about this year. Based on pre-season training, new coaching staff( overdue!!), significant A grade recruits and a second year in the section, the Reds will take a power of beating.

At least you got the Friars right. Parkdale.....please.

Fair amount but not so many more than other club's fan sets on the site. Its probably just that we are more talkative because we have social skills :p ... well, more lip anyway, its the processed form of gumption.

I didn't know there was an air of extreme confidence about the reds as I am at a distance from them, but I am always somewhat quietly confident, hopeful, and votaric.

Of all those factors above, I would hazard a guess that the second year in the section will by the most helpful.

Funny how the current line of conversation started with a question about the Carey captaincy yet 90% of the subsequent posts have been about what is happening at Fitzroy Reds.

Don't the blokes at Brunswick St talk to each other at training - just wait until they get home and pm each other on BigFooty?

Is this a reflection of the communication style instilled by the new management - or are they just a good fit for a club who won't talk to each other face to face?

I don't know - maybe someone from OT or OC can confirm.
I'm sure we'll hear from the loyal Reds cyber faithful...

Oops Randall, bigwilly brought up the Reds name this time, and I think you'll find on review that the Reds seem to be talked about more by opposition clubs than by the Reds fans themselves. Prior to that, it was uglydermie that asked a question of the Reds folks. Oops! But don't panic, under the current preseason climate your poster would be deemed still in play.

You in fact even quoted text that overtheline quoted of bigwilly, rather than stated himself. Not a poster this one; it faded towards the boundary.

You guys had all better start spying on Old Camberwell. From what I have heard they will be close to unbeatable. They will have at least a dozen players with AFL, VFL, TAC Cup, VAFA Senior State and A Grade football experience in their side each week.
So stop pumping up your own tyres, and start figuring out how you can stop Loats, Gabe Deane-Johns, Beranger, Tallis, Chard and the host of other guns turning out for a weekly gallop in the lush surrounds of Balwyn.
This side will make any A Grade side envious...

Agreed, Camberwell do sound pretty well stocked. These blokes like uglydermie and bigwilly need to broaden their range of vision, there are more clubs in the grade than just the Reds, yers know.

While on Camberwell, how is Loats' brucereidness going? And why does that Dean-Johns name sound familiar. Where have I heard of him (I don't pay much attention to AFL if that's where he came from). Tallis I recognise as a Hawthorn name I think, someone Dermie stood on the head of, was that him? And Chard's name gets mentioned a lot, in the news that much and he's got to be a bit of orright.

For mine, I can see the Reds performing well, but I have no idea yet as I haven't seen em train and don't know a thing about the new arrivals. I'd watch out for Ormond, mainly because they haven't been saying much that I've noticed. Old Camberwell and Whitefriars both sound like they've got people with faith in them. And there's probably a very short lifespan for anyone who writes off those vultures.

Gabe is from Old Trinity. Very good player. Beranger is ex Old Scotch Captain who has jumped ship. Ryan Chard was at Skevs last year. Great player. In a better side could have kicked 80 plus.
If these three, plus Loats and Tallis are all playing, stay fit, then they would definately be 5 of the best C-Section has to offer.

Maybe the guy who keeps saying "be afraid" could be on the money.

Maybe scribe can be the captain...

Gabe would be at Old Trinity still except he cannot train and didn't think it would be appropriate to play A grade and not train.

He is a terrific pickup for Old Camberwell.

Their ground still looks no good....
How are all the other grounds looking around town.

Surely your not serious. All this talk and he is just a player. May be big but slow and easy to shut out. T. Davis 5 times the footy player he is. In the state game chard was useless and timmy stepped up to play in the ruck and won the game off his own boot.
Other recruits much more worthy of comments.

Agreed - as I said before, anyone who thinks Old Camberwell will not be right up there this season has rocks in their head.

Frankly, particularly given their extensive higher grade Ammo experience, I'd expect Gabe, Tristan and Ryan to be even more valuable recruits than Tallis.

Gabe, in particular, is one of the most under-rated A Grade key position players of the past 15 years. If there's one player I've played with who could perform well on a Saturday without having to train during the week, it'd be him.....geez......might have to jump on the phone right now.......;)

Intersting chap is Gabe. Decorated and bona fide superstar at Collegiens, followed Carlson to OT, very good there, but has never wanted to pull on the jumper for his schools Old Xaverians. For this reason alone he deserves to be held in the highest praise possible.
Dont be surprised if younger brother Lucien pulls on the boots there also, although I have not heard any such thing.

You must be kidding yourself.
50 odd goals in an ordinary side is reasonable, dont you think? Chardy is nicknamed the Markologist for good reason, his record in an A grade game is 21 marks. Regularly took 15 to 18 per game when on song.
I wouldn't put too much into State games, he was a reluctant participant as he doesnt have much time for ego maniacs who run around at that level refusing to pass to anyone.
