well done to OC2 great win today and congrats to nodders for a great season after a slow start, next weeks game is sure to be an absolute belter

Settled into position at the Bell St end of the ground to watch the big game. I must admit I was nervous as the posts of some people have made OC sound like the invincibles. OC dominated early but, except for Tallis, seemed happy to get the ball out of the centre corridor. A change occurred in the second quarter with Rupo getting its hands on the ball and winning the contests. Four goals to two made it Rupo's quarter. The third was pretty much the same only better and I thought Rupo had the ascendancy at 3/4 time. The last quarter was tight for the first fifteen minutes and then the bigger bodies won the important contests and the game. I was rapt at the effort and feel, if given the chance, Rupo may not be as intimidated next time as it was early in this contest. Many good players for Rupo but I loved the efforts of the Bangers and Gags. Senstional KB. I think the OC posts have missed the best players. The two key defenders, 2 and 12, won the important contests all day. As for Chard, not impressed with someone who bags his team mates for poor delivery. Just work harder Chard. As for Hilton, his behaviour all day was boorish. He proved to me that a lack of fitness tinged with arrogance can lead to a poor day, even in C Grade.

Open both eyes mate!

I don't know weather Chard was BOG, because Old Camb's key defenders did play exceptionally well but he would have been close.

To say Chard needs to work Harder shows a severe lack of vision and knowledge of football on you're behalf! He was without doubt the hardest working forward (If not player) on the ground. He continually hits up leads up to the wing and then pushes back to deep to do it all again. This happened all day! Hence the 15+ Marks (Both pack and uncontested).

What more do you want?

I'm sure his team mates respect his work rate and would forgive him if should he act somewhat aggrieved to poor disposal that places his body in anymore strain and/or chance of severe body contact.

Mate he plays a brave, hardworking style as a modern day power forward.

You're the kind of bloke who would rather take a Russel Robinson to a Matthew Richardson! Am i right?

Keep the bagging of individual players to yourself! Not needed around here!

Well done to Old Carey, a really well deserved win! Congrats Boys!

Chard was clearly BOG. An amazing game from him. Without him the result may have been different, despite the number of shots on goal that OC1 had. Chard presented all day, and even ran back to re present as OC1 looked a little light on for forwards at certain times. The big Loatenator will be back for GF day. This has been confirmed. The big mans presence will be interesting. Hilton one out has worked well in recent games. Will Loats be a little like Big Bad Bustling Barry Hall. A player you can't possibly leave out......but should you....for team structure. Interesting times await at the selection table in 10 days for the OC1 brainstrust.

Game 2. Interesting result. I tipped OC2 in a thriller by 3 points, but i guess the result was the only thing i got right. Reports filtering back to me through certain spies suggest a very impressive performance.

OC2 vs Rupo next week...leaning towards Carey at present, but will wait for teamsheets to cross my desk Friday morning before confirming this tip.

The little bloke wearing number 40 was there to protect the kids and to show that rupo were not going to be belted up again.
When you have players taken out deliberately like Collins was last year and the VAFA tribunal not wanting to upset the old boys club and investigate a legitimate complaint properly, then you have to have some insurance.

Sounds like sour grapes and a double standard to me. I recall you getting stuck into our players (Friars) for being physical off the ball but then defend your own player for the same thing.

Can't believe you are still complaining about last years GF. I was at the GF last year and as an impartial observer your supporters complained all day long about bumps (in play) and hardness "at the ball" from Old Carey. Maybe Rupo need to wake up and realise that in finals the hardness at the ball (and the man who has the ball) increases significantly over any regular season game. Hmmm, maybe that explains why you can make it to the finals but never seem to be holding aloft the cup? (too many excuses I think)

OC2 are very cocky about beating Rupo. it looms as another daunting task for the young lads from wherever they are from, OC2 to roll into the GF.

ease up brian, who have you spoken to at old carey? dont think they are cocky about rupo at all. rupo smased them at home, carey did the deed on theirs (small deck). All square. game this week is on big deck, rupo were great against old camberwell, carey know they are up against it. one less day to recover too. toss of a coin result for me.

Agree with this BB. Will be a cracker. Big ground will suit Rupo, however Carey must have been super impressive yesterday to stop the Mazenod train in its tracks. Any injury concerns out of either camps? Any players to come back in? From what i have heard both clubs have mutual respect for each other after going up a grade together and now both doing extremely well in C-Grade. Neither would want to show even a hint of cockiness otherwise another season in C-Grade beckons. Both would be deserving, but only one can go up. Should be a thriller.

Re the B&F tonight. Any thoughts out there from the punters? I believe as KB said, Rupo look to have had a heap tie on the same number of votes. Do OC1, OC2 or Mazenod only have 1 invite?? If so, it is likely the winner will be that man.

Son of a gun, thought there nothing wrong with the game on Saturday. Tough, hard solid hit out with both teams giving as good as they got. Every team has a player or 2 that likes to ruffle the oppositions feathers.
Anyway, I think this is (or should be) a dead issue. Lets look ahead to the last 2 remaining games for C Grade senior and reserves 2007. Just who will Old Camberwell meet in 12 days time?
Good to see one of the promoted teams will get promoted again. Either way, I doubt that whoever is unfortunate enough to lose this weekend will be in C grade much longer than next year. Both Old Carey and Rupo are great teams.
Can anyone tell me who won the OC v Ormond reserves game yesterday?
Loats (if he plays) definately is a wild card for Old Camb due to him being a thousand foot tall. Noticed he only played against the Preliminary finalists once each this season though.
Anyway, good luck to those playing while the rest of us eat hot dogs and watch from the balcony at the 'Snake Pit.'

Hi Mick,
Tell us a bit about them. Young side? Old Side? Will there be many retirements? Do you have under 19's? If not where do the players come from?

Lost personnel in recent years hence the slide from B to D1 since 2003. The return of a few players and a couple of ex juniors who tried their hand in the VFL has helped the cause.
1 player the wrong side of 30 - possible retirement(will be talked out if he entertains any thoughts). Core group of 23-28 year olds. Some quality youth.
Under 19's are playing off against Mazenod in the 'south' GF on Friday night.
And further down the track; one of, if not, the strongest junior clubs going around. Though juniors have often been poached by the rival "schoolboy" teams in years gone by(perfect example would be Old Brighton's top 5 league vote getters for 2007 played all their junior footy at Hampton), which hasn't helped. However, all bodes well if managed correctly.

As most know their was a 4 goal breeze at Coburg city oval yesterday. Carey had an 11 point leading at 3qtr time, and ormond with the wind in the last. only a 10 goal win to the monders, not bad eh? 33 from carey was found out in the last quarter and made a goose of himself by tring to have words with the crowd, not a smart idea. Ormond vs Rupo next week.

wouldn't say "poached" as such.. most played both BGS and rovers at the same time.. i guess they chose the old boys rather than rovers as they would have stronger ties there.. not sure of anyone who were "specific" rovers guys that got "lured" to OB though..

I"m not going to fall for that one Ape Man. Did a great tagging roll on Chamberlain, very fit, would get a 14.6 beep test IMO. Josephs a 14.2, Evans a 13.8, Dolly a 11.1 (might bench press 110) and Nick Holland a 10.7!!!!!!

On that OC2 were very well coached on Saturday, and you can only give credit to the Mazenod coach as well. They are a great club, very friendly and have a nucleus of up and coming juniors.

Bahahaha is 10.7 surpose to be good?
you would expect that of Lance Whitnall!
i wouldn't be exclaiming that too loudly!

Wagner got best for OC2. We are going to direct our players not to shower this week. He's worse than a dog on a bone. We will need to smell.

kingbrown, i am sure a few of the old carey boys will need to smell too! every team has run withs - who are you thinking about this week for old carey?

Congrats to Simon "Digger" Keleher on winning the C Section B&F with 25 votes. That's 3 in a row for the Digs, well done champion!
