Hastings is exactly what our our ODI side needs at the moment. A guy who can bat at 8 and bowl plenty of slower balls and cutters. That said I wouldn't be giving him a contract.
Hastings played for Aus when McKay was injured, don't need them both. Hence he won't keep his contract.

Hastings isn't a good enough batsman to play as an all rounder in Christian's spot which someone else suggested.

Did a hamstring during the BigBash (not in a match, but during that time), put on ice for the rest of the season. Will probably aim to return in the IPL, and if successful should probably be around the squad in the LO matches against Pakistan + T20 WC cause he's about a 50X better T20 bowler than lee who seems to be hanging around the T20 squad

And on that note, pretty much all the fast bowling spots in OD + t20 are up for grabs, so I'd expect them to give contracts to the incumbents rather than the injured. And if contracts get reduced to 15 no seamers without major test hopes will be getting a contract.

Don't see how people can say that Doug Bollinger couldn't potentially add more to the Australia side, in any format. He isn't even 31 one yet, Ryan Harris debut at the same age as him. If he remains injury free and puts the performances on the board, he should be back in amongst it.

Can't Johnson do the same role?

Johnson is a good ODI player.
Well, if he was fit, I'd have him at 7. I would have had him there any time in the past 2 years. I don't really understand why they haven't used his hitting more.

Big problem with the team is death bowling though and Johnson sure as hell isn't going to solve that one.
